Along with Vietnam's Trang An scenic landscape complex, the Hamiguitan Mountain Conservation Area Natural Heritage Site was also recently recognized by UNESCO at its 38th session held a few days ago.

Mount Hamiguitan is a 1,620-meter (5,315 ft) high mountain located in Davao Oriental Province, on the island of Mindanao, Philippines. The mountain and its surrounding area are home to one of the most diverse wildlife populations in the Philippines.

Among the wildlife found in this area, the Philippine eagle and several species of pitcher plants such as Nepenthes peltata are noteworthy, as they are endemic to the region.

The mountain protects forests in the Philippines, covering an area of ​​approximately 2,000 hectares. The forest is home to many endemic and rare species of flora and fauna and is a unique area with ancient dwarf trees.

Mount Hamiguitan, covering an area of ​​6,834 hectares (68.34 km²), was designated a national park and wildlife sanctuary of the Philippines in 2003.
