A traditional Vietnamese Tet (Lunar New Year) market will be recreated in the hotel's garden for three days over the weekend. This is an annual event at the Metropole Hanoi Hotel as part of a series of activities celebrating the traditional Tet holiday, including dragon dances to welcome spring and a New Year's Eve party at the Spices Garden restaurant. "While most shops and restaurants close during Tet, Metropole Hanoi remains ready to serve the needs of our guests," shared Franck Lafourcade, General Manager of the hotel. "From traditional Vietnamese markets and dishes to meaningful red envelopes, we aim to bring you a Tet atmosphere rich in national identity."
This year, the Metropole's Lunar New Year Market will take place from January 29-31 (4-8 pm) in the hotel's garden. It's a rustic, traditional market with green sticky rice cakes (bánh chưng), Dong Ho paintings and red couplets, clay figurines (tò he), conical hats (nón lá), Bat Trang ceramics, lacquerware, and colorful Northwest brocade fabrics… Visit the fragrant pho, bun rieu, and steamed rice rolls (bánh cuốn) stalls at the Metropole Tet Market in the cool weather. Don't forget to participate in the competitions such as wrapping sticky rice cakes and making rice rolls on Friday, January 29th, and making rice rolls and colorful salad (nộm ngũ sắc) on Saturday, January 30th. Or try your hand at painting on conical hats on Sunday, January 31st for attractive prizes from the Metropole Hanoi Hotel. In addition, guests have the opportunity to watch traditional bamboo pole dances right next to the hotel's swimming pool.
