Mr. and Mrs. Butler were passengers on flight VN0054 (which carried patient number 17), arriving in Vietnam on March 1st. After five days in Hanoi, both were taken to Dong Da Hospital for examination and testing.
After spending nine nights in quarantine, the British couple were allowed to return to their hotel on March 16th. They expressed their sincere gratitude to the hospital and the doctors and nurses who had cared for them.
The photo of the letter was provided by the person concerned.
The letter read: "We are a British couple traveling to Vietnam on March 1st on flight VN54. After five wonderful days in Hanoi, we were taken to Dong Da Hospital for a Covid-19 check-up because a Vietnamese girl on the same flight as us had tested positive."
We were told we would have to quarantine for 14 days, but we felt less worried when our test results were all negative; we hadn't been infected with the virus.
The hospital facilities here are very different from those in England, however we have everything we need. We had quite a hard time with the language barrier until we found a doctor who spoke English, who helped us a lot and provided us with all the necessary information. Our guide from ICS, Nam, also assisted us and gave us some items that travelers like us don't usually bring.
We understand this reality, that this is what needs to be done in the current circumstances, and we are very grateful to the hospital and all the staff here for taking such good care of us."
David and Cath Butler, British nationals, are in quarantine at Dong Da Hospital in Hanoi.
According to the person who photographed and shared the letter on social media, Mr. and Mrs. Butler returned to England a day after being discharged from the hospital.
