Florence Mussou launches Atelier Soleil, a sensory design studio for high-end resort projects across Southeast Asia.

Why do some hotels linger in our minds long after we check out, while others fade quickly? Why do we sometimes remember a streak of light, a surface of a material, a scent, or a particular emotion without ever being able to explain why? For Florence Mussou, the answer is simple: the most memorable places aren't just beautiful. They move us.

After more than 15 years exploring the intersection of craftsmanship, fabrics, culture, and contemporary design between Europe and Asia, the French businesswoman officially launched Atelier Soleil. This is a sensory design studio based in Ho Chi Minh City and operating throughout Southeast Asia, specializing in helping hotels, resorts, and private villas build a distinctive sensory identity through design, materials, storytelling, and craftsmanship.

Her mission is to transform spaces into unforgettable experiences.

"I see each space as a story waiting to be revealed. I listen to the culture, the light, the materials, and the memories of that place, and then transform them into a sensory experience. By combining art, crafts, fabrics, images, and scents, I create a unique signature for each project. My ambition is not to impose a style, but to awaken the soul of the land and give it an enduring expression, deeply rooted in its very context," shares Florence Mussou, Founder and Creative Director of Atelier Soleil.

A new approach to the hospitality industry.

In an industry where aesthetics often take center stage, Atelier Soleil advocates a different vision: the resort industry is designed through the senses.

The studio was involved from the very first stages of the project, creating a unified identity that connects the architecture, materials, fabrics, decorative objects, color palette, brand story, and guest experience.

Fabrics hold a special place in this approach. Long considered merely decorative elements, they now become an emotional language capable of shaping spaces, influencing perceptions, and reinforcing identity.

"Luxury is undergoing a transformation. Today's travelers seek more than opulent interiors. They crave authentic experiences, deep connections with their surroundings, and rich emotions. Places that leave a lasting impression are those with soul, strong connections, and a distinct sensory identity," Florence Mussou added.

From Grasse (France) to Vietnam, a unique journey...

Born in Grasse, France, the perfume capital of the world, Florence Mussou grew up surrounded by craftsmanship, natural materials, and a culture of fragrance.

After studying textile design in Paris, she moved to Vietnam and co-founded Metiseko, a high-end fashion and lifestyle brand known for celebrating fabrics, local craftsmanship, and sustainable creations.

Over the years, collaborating with artisans, architects, designers, and hospitality industry professionals has led her to a simple realization: the identity of a place is shaped by what we feel as much as by what we see.

Atelier Soleil was born from that very belief. Operating between France and Vietnam, the studio distills the best of both cultures to create a direction that combines French elegance, Asian craftsmanship, and international standards of excellence.

Atelier Soleil is currently involved in several high-end resort projects across Southeast Asia, including Bhaya Soul Cruises in Ha Long Bay and Oasya Villas in Hoi An. Florence Mussou also served as the artistic and textile director for Namia River Retreat in Hoi An (a project developed by Lumina Wellbeing).

Through each collaboration, the studio creates unique worlds – where design, craftsmanship, storytelling, and sensory experiences blend to reinforce the destination's identity and enrich the traveler's journey.

In addition to its creative direction, Atelier Soleil operates in four complementary areas: Creative direction and spatial identity; Brand storytelling strategy and art; Unique fabric design and customized collections; Sensory impressions and immersive experiential spaces.

In an era where many spaces tend to look alike, Florence Mussou sought to defend a more subtle and sensitive approach to design.

"We live in an age where everything is visible, recorded, and shared. Yet, what truly touches people's hearts is often the intangible. I like to imagine places that unfold slowly, places that tell stories and leave a lasting impression on the minds of those who experience them."
