To begin your trek to Bach Moc, here's a suggested route: From Sa Pa, travel by motorbike for about 2 hours to Sang Ma Sao village. There, park your motorbike at a local's house and begin your journey with a porter. For non-professional trekkers, hiring a porter is essential. The porters will also act as guides, carry equipment, and cook meals for the group. However, if you are experienced and have the necessary skills, you can confidently trek with your friends.
A friend helped Thinh prepare everything before conquering Bach Moc peak.
The first steps on the journey, amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Northwest region.
Like many villages in Northwest Vietnam, terraced rice fields surround the houses in Sang Ma Sao village. A mix of anxiety about exhaustion, excitement, and anticipation as they prepared to conquer Bach Moc mountain peak, all members were ready for the journey to reach Ky Quan San peak.
The weather when we started climbing was cloudy, and as we ascended, fog began to blanket the path. For those who haven't climbed mountains before or don't climb regularly, the first kilometer is a real test of physical endurance. I fell behind the group and had to sit down to rest; only then did I understand what it feels like to breathe through your ears and nose, with your limbs completely exhausted. We encouraged each other to overcome the challenges, and the beautiful scenery of the Northwest mountains also soothed us. Step by step, everyone overcame the initial difficulties.
It feels like being embraced and comforted by Mother Nature.
For journeys that demand such good health, careful food preparation is crucial.
More importantly, it's essential to travel with local guides to ensure safety.
As we ascended, the fog cleared, the air became clearer, and once we became accustomed to the terrain, the fatigue lessened considerably. New landscapes unfolded, further stimulating the adventurous spirit. High mountain ranges shrouded in mist, cool, crystal-clear streams, or a wildflower by the roadside – all contributed to the unique ecosystem of Bach Moc Luong Tu. We reached an altitude of 2,100 meters.
The higher you go, the more spectacular the view becomes.
Adventurers are captivated by the ethereal beauty of the route.
We rested at a campsite at an altitude of over 2100m after a nearly 6-hour journey through the forest and over mountains.
The dew had frozen on the leaves by the next morning, when the temperature was only around 1.2 degrees Celsius.
And then, finally, the summit of Bach Moc Luong Tu - Ky Quan San appeared before our eyes - a well-deserved reward for our efforts to overcome difficulties, our adventurous hearts, and our courage to venture out in search of new things.
The sea of clouds at Bach Moc Luong Tu is captivatingly beautiful in the morning light.
