Amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, people are turning to craft activities as a way to slow down and enjoy the creative joy of using their hands. From May 2025, Lành Workshop will become a fresh new art destination offering dozens of DIY (do it yourself) activities for anyone to try. Among over 30 workshops such as painting, making scented candles, decorating phone cases, etc., the two most popular signature activities are mosaic stone jigsaw puzzles and sculpting with air-drying clay.

From ancient art to modern creative spaces
Mosaic is an ancient art form, originating in Mesopotamia in the 3rd millennium BC. It flourished during the Roman and Byzantine periods, covering floors, domes, palace walls, and churches with small pieces of pottery, stone, and glass. In Vietnam, the most notable example is the Hanoi Ceramic Road – a kilometer-long outdoor mosaic mural that recreates history and culture on each individual piece of ceramic.
Today, mosaic art is no longer just a heritage displayed in museums or large buildings, but has become a community art activity. And at Lành workshop, mosaic is incorporated into wooden molds shaped like lion heads, jade rabbits, butterfly wings… - images associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival and childhood memories.

Today, mosaic art has become an accessible art form.

Lành Workshop's Mid-Autumn Festival mosaic art workshop will begin on September 13th, 2025, featuring many beautiful mosaic designs suitable for both adults and children. The mosaic work is simple yet captivating, making participants forget the concept of time.
First, participants choose a stencil, then select stones of various colors—blue, red, yellow, orange, purple, white, and black—from trays to arrange according to their own aesthetic preferences. Once they have determined the composition, they use glue to attach the stones to the stencil. They don't need to fit together perfectly; participants can mix and match colors and sizes to make the artwork more vibrant.
Before assembling the mosaic, customers choose the type of mold and the colors of the mosaic stones to be used.

The small pieces of stone are for adult guests only.
The final step is to apply white powder to the surface to fill the gaps, dry it, and then wipe it clean. In just 1-2 hours, a personalized mosaic is complete. For children, Lành prepares large, rounded stones to ensure safety. Adults can try their hand at smaller pieces, requiring more meticulousness and dexterity.

Alongside mosaic, clay modeling is another signature activity that attracts many participants. Here, participants are guided by staff through each step, from mixing clay colors and sculpting detailed shapes to painting and fixing them in place. Finally, a layer of varnish is applied to help the artwork last longer. No complicated tools are needed; with just their hands and patience, anyone can create a unique piece.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival, participants will have the opportunity to experience making mooncakes from clay using real molds, sculpting entire flocks of white rabbits or the moon and stars. Every small detail, from the rabbit's ears to the flower petals on the cake, is a memorable creative moment. And just like mosaic, clay sculpting is not only a craft experience but also a way to evoke the spirit of the festival, joy, and excitement through colorful creations.

From colorful mosaics to mooncakes and clay rabbits, activities at Lành are more than just creative games. They're also a way for participants to create memories with their own hands, connecting handicrafts with the spirit of togetherness during the festival. In addition, they are also organizing other workshops to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, such as making glass lanterns and painting masks.

In addition to organizing seasonal and festival-based workshops to avoid duplication, Lành also accepts corporate and charity workshops to spread the spirit of art to the community.
