One of Helsinki's most prominent landmarks is Uspenski Cathedral, completed in 1868. It is also the largest cathedral in Western Europe, attracting over half a million visitors annually. The cathedral, with its red exterior and blue roof, sits atop a hill on the Katajanokka Peninsula, offering panoramic views of the city.

Additionally, the city is also known for the Temppeliaukio Church, also known as the Rock Church. This church is a dome structure built directly into the rock face. Although located underground, the glass dome ensures ample light throughout. Notably, the rough, unpolished interior of the rock church provides exceptionally good acoustics.

Located along the river, Market Square is a popular spot for tourists to shop for handcrafted souvenirs and local food.

The Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, built in 1748, is a distinctive part of Helsinki. Originally constructed to protect the Kingdom of Sweden, it later became Finnish property. The fortress comprises six small islands, housing 850 people and becoming a popular tourist attraction.

Located less than an hour from Helsinki is Nuuksio National Park. Nuuksio boasts numerous hiking trails and a serene, crystal-clear lake.
Summer is the best time to visit Helsinki or anywhere else on the Scandinavian peninsula. The Finnish climate is warm and pleasant at this time, and Helsinki enters its most vibrant festival season of the year.
