Abandoned fish pond in the middle of Phu Quy beach

A peaceful and poetic "swimming pool" hidden in the middle of the pristine Phu Quy island.

The distance of 110km from the mainland is a big challenge that prevents tourists from visiting Phu Quy Island, which is why the island is still considered a rough gem hidden in the middle of the ocean.

There are tourist spots that almost no one knows about except the islanders, such as an abandoned fish pond right next to the tomb of Thay Sai Nai. Some fishermen on the island call it “Ganh Hang dam”, others call it “Lang Duong fish pond”, because this place used to be used to raise squid, but since fishing became popular, the dam was left empty, letting the seawater flood in. As more tourists visited, the fish pond became a giant swimming pool, like an ancient architectural work rising above the sea.

After the pandemic, domestic tourism has developed strongly. Phu Quy Island with its special fish lake has also received attention from many tourists. However, because it is a new and dangerous tourist destination, tourists, especially families with young children, need to proactively prepare safety measures for themselves, or can choose to walk on the lake wall and try some other forms of tourism on Phu Quy Island, such as: cycling along the roads close to the sea, visiting the Tomb of Thay Sai Nai, camping or bathing in smaller and shallower natural lakes.

The best time to explore the "fish pond" as well as visit Phu Quy Island: from May to August, the sea is calm and the weather is cool.
