Grasping the Investment Trend & Managing Multiple Home-Sharing Units (Multi-Host)
Along with the development of the sharing economy, home-sharing services are also growing strongly and becoming a real form of business investment in Vietnam. According to a research report by Outbox Consulting, one of the hot phenomena in the Vietnamese tourism real estate market in recent years is that individual investors buy or rent many different apartments in major tourist cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City; then rent them out for short-term rentals to tourists. This short-term rental can generate 20-50% more revenue per month compared to long-term rental contracts.
Grasping that trend, more and more investors in Vietnam have been actively participating in this potential field. By January 2019, the total number of apartments listed on the Airbnb platform had reached 40,804; 40 times higher than in 2015. A prominent reality of the home-sharing business in Vietnam is that most individual investors rent out at least 2 apartments/rooms at the same time on different platforms. Outbox Consulting's Homesharing Vietnam Insights 2019 report also confirmed that this number accounts for 2/3 (69%) of the total number of apartments listed for rent on Airbnb.
