World famous for its thousands of unique temples and pagodas, Bagan - "City of Ten Thousand Temples" is a mysterious and sacred tourist destination with countless surprises and interesting things waiting for visitors to discover.

The ancient city of Bagan is located 145 km southeast of Mandalay. Because it is a land without a rainy season, visitors can visit this place at any time of the year. Coming here, visitors will be free to explore the temples and pagodas built from the 11th to 13th centuries. It is estimated that there are more than 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries scattered across the plains in central Myanmar, of which more than 2,200 temples and pagodas still exist today.

However, due to the large number of temples and pagodas, many of the architectural works were not regularly maintained and were destroyed and damaged. In 1990, the Myanmar government tried to restore the damaged works according to the original design, using modern materials, but this plan was immediately rejected by historians and heritage conservationists around the world. Because the temples were not restored to their original historical form, UNESCO refused to recognize the city as a world heritage site.
