Madame Catherine's grandfather migrated to Phu Quoc in the 19th century with the aspiration of developing pepper cultivation. But love changed him when he met and fell in love with Madame Thanh – Madame Catherine's grandmother and also a native of Phu Quoc with a family tradition of making fish sauce. Together, they embarked on a journey to Phnom Penh and started a business selling this special condiment.
