Part of the MGallery By Sofitel collection, La Veranda Resort is the first luxury 5-star boutique resort on Phu Quoc Island. With 70 rooms and villas, La Veranda Resort is a beachfront villa with French colonial architecture that prioritizes the guest experience in its brand development.

James Drakeford, Editor-in-Chief of Luxury Travel Guide magazine, said: “We are extremely honored to announce that La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc MGallery By Sofitel has won the Luxury Beachfront Boutique Hotel of the Year 2016 award in Vietnam. This year saw fierce competition among beachfront hotels and resorts in Vietnam for this award, but La Veranda stood out and won thanks to its stunning long beach, excellent customer service, and sophisticated, nostalgic architecture that transports guests back to a bygone era of Vietnamese romance.”
Luxury Travel Guide is an international travel magazine with a readership of high-income individuals, businesspeople, and intellectuals. This publication prides itself on being a source of travel information, reviews, and in-depth articles about destinations around the world.
The investor and general manager of La Veranda Resort, Mr. Jean Pierre Gerbet, said: “We have many activities and programs to mark our first decade. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our partners and guests who have always supported La Veranda, and thank Luxury Travel Guide for bestowing this prestigious award.”

Over the past 10 years, La Veranda has been honored with numerous awards, including Conde Nast's Most Attractive Destination, TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice, Booking.com Awards, and TripAdvisor Hall of Fame Awards.
Mr. Gerbet added: “As a member of the MGallery By Sofitel Collection, we are proud to be not only a luxury resort but also to have an inspiring story to tell, from our distinctive architecture inspired by French colonial design to the more than one-hundred-year history etched into every detail of the resort’s architecture and interiors. To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are also delighted to announce attractive offers and launch a holiday program designed specifically for couples.”
From October 1st to October 31st, 2016, guests can enjoy a memorable stay at the beachfront villa La Veranda with incredibly attractive room rates, starting from USD 145++/night for a Deluxe Garden View room. This month, other celebratory activities at the resort include a 10th Anniversary Wine Party and a complimentary Afternoon Tea for guests.

In mid-October, La Veranda also announced its "Inspired By Love" resort program, which includes 12 romantic experiences for couples. These activities fall into four service categories: Romantic Wine & Dine, Proposal & Pre-nuptial Experience, Vow Renewal & Intimate Weddings, and Romantic Turn-Down Services. This program sets a new standard for couples' resort services, positioning La Veranda as Vietnam's premier romantic destination.
And the 10th anniversary also marks a time for La Veranda to reaffirm its brand, introducing guests to the inspiring story of the family that created and built this resort.
La Veranda – a perfect blend of ancient architectural motifs and Vietnamese culture – is the brainchild of Madame Catherine, a refined French woman with ancestral roots in Phu Quoc and inheriting the beauty of French colonial culture.
The architecture and every detail of the interior decoration at La Veranda bear witness to over a century of history and a wondrous journey. Madame Catherine's grandfather migrated to Phu Quoc in the 19th century with the aspiration of developing pepper cultivation. But love changed him when he met and fell in love with Madame Thanh – Madame Catherine's grandmother and also a native of Phu Quoc with a family tradition of making fish sauce. Together, they embarked on a journey to Phnom Penh and started a business selling this special condiment.
Madame Catherine spent her childhood years during the French colonial period. This served as an endless source of inspiration for her when building a seaside villa in the French colonial style of the 1920s – La Veranda Resort.

La Veranda was built in 2006 as a retirement home for Madame Catherine. In her ancestral land, she personally designed and decorated a French-style villa to commemorate her ancestors' history. All the furnishings here embody over a hundred years of history, reflecting her family's journey from Phu Quoc to Phnom Penh, and now their return to their ancestral homeland.
