Michelin Guide announces the shortlist for the Bib Gourmand 2024 category in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

The latest Bib Gourmand list honours five new dining establishments in Hanoi and eight new dining establishments in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing the total number of award-winning dining establishments in the two cities to 42.

A week before announcing the full list of MICHELIN Guide 2024 in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Michelin is pleased to introduce the list of dining establishments in the Bib Gourmand category in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this year.

In the second edition of the MICHELIN Guide in Vietnam, the Bib Gourmand list in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City has a total of 42 dining establishments - including 18 in Hanoi (including 5 new establishments) and 24 in Ho Chi Minh City (including 8 new establishments). This number represents a significant increase compared to the 29 dining establishments in the first edition last year. The Bib Gourmand award-winning dining establishments in Da Nang - the latest Vietnamese destination to be added to the MICHELIN Guide list - will be revealed on June 27 at the MICHELIN Guide List Announcement Ceremony for Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.

In the MICHELIN Guide selection, the Bib Gourmand award – which represents the iconic character “Bibendum” or Michelin Man – recognises dining establishments that offer excellent food at a reasonable price. The Bib Gourmand list is therefore monitored by the MICHELIN Guide community in search of delicious meals at affordable prices that still guarantee quality and taste.

In total, the 2024 Bib Gourmand list of dining establishments in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City includes seven types of cuisine: Vietnamese, noodle dishes, contemporary European, street food, vegetarian, Cantonese and Latin American. This is a testament to the vibrant culinary scene of both cities, where there is a wide range of delicious dishes at affordable prices.

In Hanoi, the five new dining establishments in the Bib Gourmand category are:

▪ Bun Cha Chan, a small bun cha restaurant that has been in operation for more than 10 years, not only serves the signature grilled meatball bun cha with sweet and sour broth, but also has other options such as grilled pork belly or minced beef rolled in lolot leaves.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the eight new dining establishments in the Bib Gourmand category are:

▪ Banh Xeo 46A, a restaurant famous for its signature “giant” Vietnamese banh xeo, with fillings of mung beans, bean sprouts, pork and shrimp, served with shredded chicken salad or grilled pork, beef, squid and shrimp.

▪ Bo Kho Ganh, a famous street food stall serving beef stew in a stone pot, can be eaten with bread, noodles or rice.

▪ Bun Bo Hue 14B, a take-out shop with beef noodle soup made with sliced ​​beef, beef tendon and fish cake.

▪ Man Moi (Thu Duc City), a Vietnamese restaurant with an extensive menu featuring specialties from all regions of the country - including salads, soups, main courses, grilled dishes, desserts, as well as hot pots and stews.

▪ Nha Tu, a Vietnamese restaurant serving home-cooked dishes rarely seen elsewhere - such as steamed snails stuffed with minced meat and boiled mixed vegetables served with braised pork.

The full 2024 MICHELIN Guide Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang dining selections – including MICHELIN Stars and MICHELIN Guide Special Awards – will be revealed on June 27 at a special Announcement Ceremony, held in Ho Chi Minh City.
