In recent days, social media has been circulating information from an account about a "disastrous travel experience, abandoning tourists on Ti Top Island." This person stated that "the boat didn't check on passengers, there were no missed calls, I waited 30 minutes at the dock and the boat didn't appear, and when I called the number on the wristband, it was switched off…".
According to the post, this tourist, along with many others, was left behind by the tourist boat without their knowledge, forcing them to find their way back to shore on their own. The post quickly attracted attention and spread on social media, causing public outrage. Following this information, authorities in Quang Ninh province launched an investigation to verify and clarify the matter.
According to initial information, the incident of tourists being left behind on Ti Top Island occurred on June 16, 2024, on the QN 926x vessel. The QN 926x was carrying 99 passengers (not part of a group tour) to visit Ti Top Island. During the return trip, due to the large number of passengers, some tourists were left behind on the island. After receiving the information, the tourism company arranged another vessel to pick up the stranded tourists and bring them back later.
However, information about the tourists being stranded on Ti Top Island was initially not fully reported to the relevant authorities. The tourists contacted the travel company for assistance but did not receive a satisfactory response. The two tourists then contacted the company's phone number and were helped onto the Bình An ferry (number QN 8448) to be taken back to shore. Upon arrival on the mainland, a representative from the company met the two tourists at the pier to apologize.
The incident of tourists being left behind has caused much outrage in the community.
The lack of feedback from tourists and travel companies makes it difficult for the Ha Long Bay Management Board to understand the situation and take timely action.
After verification, the bay management reminded the boat owner to avoid a recurrence of this situation. The tourists in the group said they "sympathized with the boat" and subsequently removed all their social media posts.
