According to initial police investigations, the female tourist was last seen with an Asian man, at the city wall area at Station Rise at 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6. At that time, Linh Le was wearing a white shirt, short jeans and a white backpack. The man who was last seen with the girl was about 20 years old and was wearing a dark shirt and a black baseball cap.
This is Linh Le's first time in England. What's more worrying is that she is only 15 years old and doesn't speak any English.
Local police in York city said eight people have been arrested in connection with the tourist's disappearance.
The Vietnamese Embassy in London, UK confirmed that it was aware of the disappearance and had received Linh's passport from the travel agency. Linh's parents in Vietnam were also informed about the incident.
"We also kept the passport of the person who accompanied Linh, but this document was later returned and the person returned to Vietnam. We are still supporting the investigation," said a spokesman for the Vietnamese Embassy in London.
