The vast eastern and southern parts of Utah (USA) stretch across cliffs, deserts, and national parks. The arid desert seems to reject all plant life except for a few sparse shrubs. This area is known as The Badlands. At first glance, it doesn't look like it belongs on Earth but rather resembles the landscape of... Mars.

However, if natural conditions are stable, once a year, this water-scarce, cracked area will burst forth with vibrant flowers. Scorpion Weed and Beeplant, two yellow and purple cactus species, demonstrate the resilience of nature even in the most incredibly harsh environments. Between the cracks, they awaken and proudly adorn the vast desert landscape.
Let your gaze wander, and enjoy the simple yet powerful beauty of the desert flowers:

Despite their short lifespan and blooming only once a year, these small yellow and purple flowers bring a unique vibrancy and beauty to The Badlands.

Delicate but not weak, Scorpion Weed has a secret weapon for self-defense: a poison that causes a burning sensation if you touch it.
