The eastern and southern parts of Utah are vast stretches of cliffs, deserts and national parks. The arid deserts seem to deny any plant life other than a sparse scrub. This area is called The Badlands. At first glance, it looks less like Earth and more like a landscape on... Mars.

However, if the natural conditions are stable, once a year, this cracked place due to lack of water will burst into colorful flowers. Scorpion Weed and Beeplant, two yellow and purple flowers of the cactus family, show that the vitality of nature exists even in the most unbelievably harsh places. Between the cracks, they rise up and proudly decorate the vast desert.
Look far away and enjoy the simple yet intense beauty of desert flowers:

Although their lifespan is quite short and they only appear once a year, the small yellow and purple flowers bring a unique vitality and beauty to The Badlands.

Fragile but not weak, Scorpion Weed has a secret weapon to protect itself, a poison that will sting your hand if you touch it.
