Beautiful rocky beaches along the coast of Vietnam

25/05/2014

Besides the beautiful beaches and clear blue water, the rocky outcrops rising from the sea, with their strange shapes or vibrant colors, are like masterpieces bestowed by nature.

Visiting Ghenh Da Dia, Co Thach Beach, or Hoang Hau Beach, tourists will witness the majestic and mysterious beauty of nature.

1. Nhay Rock Beach, Quang Binh

Visitors to Quang Binh are delighted to immerse themselves in the pristine white-sand beaches, home to a collection of uniquely shaped rocks. The "Dancing Rocks" beach is located right by the sea, at the foot of Ly Hoa Pass, in Bo Trach district. From Dong Hoi, traveling about 30km north along National Highway 1A, visitors will reach the beach with its columns of rocks of varying sizes and heights, in many different shapes. When waves crash against the rocks, they create a murmuring sound, as if the rocks are playfully jumping and dancing on the water's surface. Perhaps that's why it's called the "Dancing Rocks" beach.

Here, visitors can also enjoy boating, mountain climbing, or strolling through the cool, green pine forest. It's considered an ideal summer retreat due to the harmonious blend of mountains, clouds, and water.

2. Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai

After a 30-minute boat ride, visitors will arrive at Be Island, part of An Binh commune, Ly Son Island, home to a pristine beach that remains relatively unknown. Here, numerous rugged, jagged rocks jut out from the vast sea. When large waves crash, the rocks appear and disappear beneath the white foam, creating a fascinating spectacle. To the north, there is also a beach with thousands of pebbles, sparkling under the bright sky.

3. Ghenh Da Dia (Disk Rock Reef), Phu Yen

Considered one of the most unique rock formations in Vietnam, Ghenh Da Dia (Disk Rock Reef) attracts many tourists visiting Phu Yen because of its bizarre rock formations, which seem like a wonderful arrangement by nature.

From afar, visitors can admire the closely packed, flat-surfaced rocks, sometimes arranged in vertical or slanted columns, creating interesting circular, hexagonal, and pentagonal shapes, resembling a giant beehive. Small stones can also be seen scattered evenly in the clear blue seawater, their colors changing with the sunlight.

4. Hoang Hau Beach, Binh Dinh

Considered a gift from nature and the most beautiful beach in Binh Dinh province, Hoang Hau Beach attracts many tourists every year due to its stunning natural scenery and harmonious blend of mountains, water, and sky. The name Hoang Hau (Queen) comes from the legend that during her travels with Emperor Bao Dai to inspect the central provinces, Empress Nam Phuong chose this place as her private bathing spot; the name Hoang Hau Beach originated from that time.

Running along the coastline, rocks are piled haphazardly, forming caves, reefs, and cliffs that playfully interact with the waves year-round. This rocky beach is also known as Nhan Beach, perhaps because it's where swallows often come to find food. Visitors will have a wonderful feeling walking barefoot on the round, smooth stones, like giant bird eggs, piled on the beach. Each time the waves crash against the shore, it creates a very romantic scene.

5. Co Thach Beach, Binh Thuan

Located about 90 km from Phan Thiet city, Co Thach beach reveals itself with rocks of various colors and shapes. This is known as the "seven-colored rock beach," formed by the effects of tides, ocean currents, seawater, etc., pushing rocks from the seabed to the shore.

With many fascinating shapes such as elephants spouting water, hand-shaped rocks, or various animal figures, visitors here will be able to admire the magnificent works of nature. Under the waves and reflected sunlight, the entire rocky beach shimmers with a magical, ever-changing color throughout the day, making the beach even more captivating. The rocks here are not only black or gray, but also come in many vibrant colors: brown, yellow, purple, white, blue, pink, red…

6. Binh Chau Rocky Cliffs, Vung Tau

With its colossal rock formations standing out against the clear blue sea, the pristine and majestic Binh Chau rocky outcrop is an attractive tourist destination in Vung Tau. Amidst the vast ocean waves, clusters of rocks of varying sizes appear, standing out against the backdrop of the long stretches of white sand.

Visitors will have an exciting experience feeling the huge waves crashing against the rocky shore, the water splashing up to 10 meters high with white foam. Because the water here is quite strong and the terrain is treacherous with large and small rocks and many underwater reefs, great caution is needed when swimming.

7. Dinh Cau Rock Beach, Phu Quoc

The Dinh Cau rocky outcrop consists of large, ancient rock formations, eroded over time, jutting out in bizarre yet beautiful shapes, resembling turtles and crocodiles with their mouths open in the open sea... When the wind blows, thousands of white waves crash against the rocks, creating a roaring sound.

At Dinh Cau Beach, visitors can enjoy a picturesque landscape with golden sunshine, blue sea, and vast stretches of white sand blending with the sky. Watching the sunset over the sea, as beautiful as a painting, is also an unforgettable experience when visiting Phu Quoc Island.
