This is an annual award organized by Booking.com to honor destinations and accommodations worldwide. The awards include various categories for the most eco-friendly accommodations, destinations, cities, and types of tourism in the world and in individual countries.
In the category of the top 10 friendliest destinations in the world, Ninh Binh, representing Vietnam, proudly ranked 7th. The remaining destinations are La Rioja (Spain), Epirus (Greece), Oberosterreich (Austria), County Down (England), Mures (Romania), Marlborough (New Zealand), Limon (Costa Rica), Newfoundland & Labrador (Canada), and North Dakota (USA).
Ninh Binh ranks 7th in the list of the world's friendliest destinations.
Previously, during the Lunar New Year holiday, Ninh Binh welcomed nearly 330,000 tourists, including more than 29,500 international visitors.
The 10 friendliest cities (towns) in Vietnam include: Phong Nha (Quang Binh), Ninh Binh, Hoi An (Quang Nam), Hue (Thua Thien Hue), Mai Chau (Hoa Binh), Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen), Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Dong Hoi (Quang Binh), Cat Ba (Hai Phong), and Sa Pa (Lao Cai).
The results are based on nearly 240 million reviews and ratings from travelers and experts. All comments come from actual visitors who have visited the destinations and accommodations.
Voting opens on December 1st of the previous year and runs until November 30th of the following year. Once posted, comments cannot be edited in any way.
The selection criteria are based on service provision, value for money, hospitality, etc. Destinations are ranked based on the ratio of award-winning accommodations to the total number of businesses in that area.
This year, 1.36 million accommodation providers worldwide were recognized by the Traveller Review Awards for their friendliness. Vietnam had over 10,000 destinations honored.
