Highland market with Black H'mong people from Sapa

24/08/2015

From 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on August 24-25, 2015, a highland market will be recreated in the garden of the Metropole Hotel Hanoi, featuring a full range of handicrafts and souvenirs. Eleven H'Mong people from Lao Chai, Sapa, will bring the atmosphere of the mountains and forests to Hanoi with their own handmade products such as brocade, silver jewelry, and other handicrafts.

In the spirit of supporting community tourism, the Metropole Hanoi Hotel proposed a new initiative, facilitating a two-night stay for 11 representatives from the Black Hmong community at one of Vietnam's most luxurious hotels. The program aims to broaden their understanding of domestic tourism while enhancing their skills in sales, logistics, event planning, hotel management, and sustainable business development.

The Community Tourism Development Program, funded by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and implemented in collaboration with Capilano University (Canada) and Hanoi Open University, aims to build and enhance the capacity of ethnic minority communities, especially women, as well as local village authorities and the community in general.

At the Highland Market, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the locals and take home many interesting items, while also contributing revenue to the development of the people in the mountainous region.
