The Platform

The Platform -The abyss of hunger and thirstNetflix's version is a brutal fantasy world. Those at level 0 of the pit are treated to a lavish feast. The deeper you go, the dwindles the food, until at levels over 100, there's not even a bone or fruit core left. Although the characters don't know how many levels the pit has, or exactly how much food is enough for everyone, generally speaking, if each person doesn't become greedy, overeat, or hoard excessively, everyone's chances of survival are higher.

But who can resist greed when given the opportunity to plunder? Only a select few. Those at the top are trapped in the thought that this abundance is short-lived; if they don't enjoy it now, they'll regret it next month, being demoted to another level, perhaps with a fellow floor armed with guns and knives. Those at the bottom always dream of waking up tomorrow feeling better off, with better food, sitting above others, able to do whatever they want with their food, reveling in the suffering of those below.

The plot is concise, the characters are well-developed, and the setting, revolving solely around a bottomless pit, doesn't distract the viewer. However, the pace is fast enough to keep the audience from falling asleep in a film that combines sci-fi, horror, and social psychology. Such fictional worlds, depicting a slice of life's realities, seem to be increasingly favored by directors.

Nailed It! (season 4)

Nailed It! is a humorous baking series for amateur home cooks. In each episode, three amateur bakers with baking skills ranging from poor to very poor participate in two challenges.

The first challenge is called Baker's Choice. Each contestant chooses a pre-designed cake template and attempts to replicate it. The winner of this challenge receives a special prize and is allowed to wear the golden chef's hat.

In the second challenge, Nail It or Fail It, contestants have two hours to create an extremely complex cake design. Each person gets one chance to press a button to request three minutes of assistance from one of the judges. The contestant with the worst performance in the first challenge gets to press another button to distract the other two – the special effect of this button will change with each episode.

The three judges will then decide on the winning cake based on presentation and taste. The winner receives a trophy and a $10,000 prize.

Freud

Freud is a new Netflix series about the Austrian neurologist and psychologist Sigmund Freud. He laid the foundation and developed psychoanalytic theory, and was also a great thinker. Even today, although his psychoanalytic theories remain controversial and the effectiveness of his methods is still being compared to other treatments, it must be acknowledged that he was a highly influential thinker of the 20th century. His influence also extended to literature, art, theater, and film.

The film opens with the miserable days of Dr. Freud. At this time, he was neither famous nor rich. Freud hoped his theories would gain a foothold in academia, but before that could happen, he had to convince other scholars in Vienna to grant him financial support. Freud's life, full of hardship and despair, finally had a glimmer of hope when a horrific crime occurred. A prostitute, mutilated from head to toe, was brought to his house in the middle of the night because he was the only doctor closest to the crime scene. But Freud could not save the victim; instead, he became entangled in the investigation of the mysterious and tragic case, intertwined with the political intrigues of the Austro-Hungarian royal family at that time.

Money Heist (season 4)

After Life (season 2)

After Life -the latter half of lifeAfter Life is a dark comedy series on Netflix, directed, produced, and starring Ricky Gervais. The series revolves around Tony, who once had a perfect life before his wife's sudden death. Tony's life seems to completely spiral downwards. Season 2 of After Life continues Tony's story; he still struggles with the pain of losing his wife but tries to be more sociable with those around him and adopt a more positive outlook on life. In season 2, he faces the threat of his workplace closing down. With Ricky Gervais' signature lighthearted, British humor, the hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking situations faced by Tony and his friends and colleagues are all relatable to everyday life. After Life acts like a dose of "healing medicine," bringing optimism to both viewers and the character Tony.
