27/12/2021

On December 30th, at the EXPO 2020 World Exhibition in Dubai, Vietnam will showcase its culture and tourism to the international community through short films projected onto the Al Wasl dome – the world's largest 360-degree projection screen.

Vietnam National Day in Dubai, part of the series of events at EXPO 2020 World Expo, is expected to be the shortest way to promote Vietnam to international friends across five continents.

To prepare for this day, the EXPO 2020 organizing committee and Al Wasl's technical team completed a photo rehearsal and screened short films in Dubai on December 20th. Simultaneously, a dress rehearsal for the artistic program themed "The Eternal Flow" was held at My Dinh Stadium on the evening of December 23rd.

Attending the dress rehearsal, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that, in addition to the film week and several seminar activities, "The Endless Flow" is also a highlight. Here, Vietnam will introduce to international friends the most beautiful images to promote Vietnamese tourism, through dance and circus performances combined with traditional fashion, and videos introducing Vietnamese tourism with famous destinations such as Ninh Binh, terraced rice fields, Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, etc. In particular, the image of the national flag flying and a short story about the legend of the Dragon and the Immortal will also be projected onto the Al Wasl dome.

This is the art program with the largest number of participating artists in all the world exhibitions that Vietnam has attended, ranging from circus performers, dancers, traditional musical instrument players to models.

To participate in the program, Dak Nong province alone selected 14 outstanding artisans (7 gong and drum performers and 7 brocade weavers) from the province to perform. Along with them are more than 150 artists and units such as the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Vietnam Circus Federation, and the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song Troupe. The artists will present various performances to promote cultural exchange and elevate the identity of Vietnamese folk art and traditional fashion in the eyes of international friends.

For traditional brocade weavers, there will be a dedicated exhibition and product showcase area at the "Exhibition and Product Display Space" within the Vietnam Exhibition Center in Dubai. Here, visitors can learn about handcrafted brocade products made from traditional materials and witness the specific steps involved in creating these brocade items.

"The EXPO 2020 Dubai international exhibition is a special event after two years of the world battling the Covid-19 pandemic. Participating in the exhibition is a great opportunity for Vietnam to introduce its most distinctive cultural features to the world," Mr. Dong said.
