Hoang Anh Trung studied at the University of Architecture – a rigorous, technical, and disciplined training environment. However, as a natural contradiction, Trung's artistic journey took a different path, leaving the academic education system to pursue a more instinctive and free creative approach. And doodles—spontaneous, seemingly aimless drawings often considered "outside the mainstream"—have become his primary tool for defining his unique voice.
For Trung, doodle is not just a style of drawing, but a philosophy of life: "where imperfection is embraced as part of beauty, where no stereotypes bind emotions or reason. It is through this that the artist can connect with the 'childlike' part of themselves – the intuitive, unguarded part, always open to the world around them."

"Four-Pointed Star" Exhibition
The "Four-Pointed Star" exhibition is not a logically structured display or one with a rigid theme. Instead, it emerges as a free stream of thought, where each artwork is a slice of the mind, a piece from the artist's inner world.
Anh Trung's inspiration comes from very ordinary things, whether it's a childhood snack, an old street corner, a cartoon character, a comic book folded neatly in a schoolbag, or architectural details of Hanoi during the subsidy period. But under his doodle art, these images are no longer descriptive but become personal symbols that are reinterpreted, unconventional, and layered according to the logic of his emotions.

These doodle drawings are truly unique.
Doodles serve as an instinctive "escape" from academic structures.
In works lacking a rigid structure or clear center, each visual element is equal in space, much like how we often recall memories: no order, no climax, just fleeting highlights. The only thing connecting them is emotion—and for Anh Trung, that is the most essential element of his artistic practice.
This exhibition is not intended to assert anything as "completed." On the contrary, Trung views "Four-Winged Star" as a developing entity, much like his own inner world. Each artwork is a moment captured within the flow of movement, and the exhibition space is where viewers can visit that world in a snapshot of time.

The exhibition evokes feelings of memories.
It's worth noting that this exhibition is just the beginning. Trung revealed that he is working on a series of four major works symbolizing the four seasons—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—as "pillars" of his creative universe. At the same time, he continues to pursue a storytelling style that combines personal identity, local culture, and global connectivity.
“Four-Pointed Star” invites viewers into the imaginary world of a young artist searching for himself within a visual universe of his own making. There, personal memories blend with popular culture, and doodles become a bridge between instinct and vision, between innocence and reflection.

The exhibition opens up not just an art space, but also a space for dialogue between the artist and the viewer, between the present and memory, between the self and the collective. And in that dialogue, beauty is found not in perfection, but in small, yet vibrant things, like the gaze of a child just beginning to paint the world with their own colors.
The exhibition is free to attend and will take place from June 3rd, 2025 to July 13th, 2025 (9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday to Sunday) at Mơ Art Space - B3 floor, 136 Hang Trong Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.
