Satisfy your passion for eating and checking in at Da Lat

28/11/2017

Have you ever thought about what you could do with only 150,000 VND? For Thu Huong - a Traveloka intern, that amount of money is enough to explore Da Lat from early morning to late at night with dozens of delicious, cheap dishes and super romantic check-in locations.

Start the day with Goc Cay Bo pancake and go to Langbiang peak to watch the sunrise

One of the interesting things when going out in Da Lat, is probably to enjoy something hot in the early morning, when the air is still chilly at the fingertips, the breath is still clear in front of me. So I chose banh can at Goc Cay Bo restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is tiny, located under the avocado tree at the end of Tang Bat Ho slope. The price here is extremely cheap, only 25,000 VND/1 plate of cake. I sat on a small plastic chair, right next to the warm earthen oven, inhaling the hot aroma of the cake crust made from rice flour, the rich aroma of quail eggs and the rich taste of meatball dipping sauce, adding a little bit of spicy chili to match the weather in Da Lat.

Next destination isLangbiang peak- the roof of the Central Highlands with an altitude of up to 2167m. I chose this location because I had heard that, in Da Lat, the pine forest is most beautiful from 8am and 4pm, when the sunlight slant through the tree canopy at a 45-degree angle. If you rent a jeep to the top of the mountain, you can also see the whole view of Suoi Vang Lake, Da Lat city, as well as enjoy the fresh and cool air of the Central Highlands mountains and forests from above. The entrance fee is only 20,000 VND + the jeep rental fee to the top of the mountain is 40,000 VND/person.

Stroll around the Chicken Church and have lunch at the Windmill Bakery

From Langbiang to the city, you can stop byChicken Church- The largest Catholic church in the city of thousands of flowers with a high bell tower. Every detail is carved completely according to the original European architecture with strong, decisive lines, arched windows and lithographic tiled roof. All create a tight, harmonious architectural style.

Windmill Bakery is located right on Hoa Binh Street in Da Lat City. This shop is quite famous for its "eye-catching" facade, and is a place where many young people choose to check in and take virtual photos. The shop has many flavors of cakes for you to choose from, from chicken balls, char siu, shredded chicken, ... and drinks made by the bakery such as peach lemon, longan juice and chia seeds. Each dish costs only from 20,000 VND.

Visit Linh Phuoc Pagoda and Da Lat Railway Station

Linh Phuoc Pagoda is one of the largest and most beautiful pagodas in Da Lat city. What makes Linh Phuoc Pagoda unique is the millions of colorful porcelain pieces that cover the walls in traditional Vietnamese patterns. Because of this difference, the pagoda is also known as "ve chai pagoda".

After leaving the temple, I visited Da Lat station - one of the oldest stations and has the most unique cog railway system in Indochina. Currently, there is still a steam locomotive manufactured in 1930. Coming here, you can freely take photos with the ancient train that is nearly a century old without spending any money on tickets.

Snack on avocado ice cream and take a walk around Lam Vien Square

It would be a great experience to enjoy a cup of ice cream on a chilly day in Da Lat. I chose Thanh Thao ice cream shop - a name that is no longer strange to the locals. The avocado here is smooth and soft, with a scoop of white ice cream and a bit of durian on top, rich and fragrant.

Leaving the ice cream shop, I visited Lam Vien Square. Located above the square is a wild sunflower over 18m high, with an area of 1,200 m2, inside is a performing arts palace with 1,500 seats, next to the giant wild sunflower is a green artichoke made entirely of glass.

Dinner: Grilled rice paper and end the day at the Underworld market

One of my favorite places when I come to Da Lat is to sit and eat grilled rice paper on Nguyen Van Troi Street. People often say this is the crazy lady's grilled rice paper, but I don't see her as crazy at all. If you are polite and well-behaved, she will be friendly to you. The rice paper is crispy, fragrant with spices and the fatty smell of cheese, sausage,... There is nothing better than eating grilled rice paper in the cold weather!

At the end of the day, you can stroll along the Am Phu market street, immersing yourself in the bustling, crowded atmosphere of the mountain town. Just walking around and looking around without having to shop is enough to feel relaxed and comfortable.
