The roses in the valley are in full bloom right now, creating a seemingly unimaginable romantic beauty.

The Valley of Roses is an area of ​​almost 2000 km2, including the flower fields of Karlovo and Kazanlak and part of Nova Zagora. The flowers here are not only beautiful but also bring many economic benefits. Bulgaria is one of the largest producers of rose oil in the world (70-85%) and most of it is extracted from this valley.

Did you know, it takes 1300 roses to produce 1g of essential oil.

Every year, a rose festival is held in the town of Kazanlak. The most beautiful girl in the area is chosen as the “Rose Queen” and there are many other fun activities such as rose picking competitions, street parades and folk dances. The festival takes place every June, right now.
