The Valley of Roses is a vast area of nearly 2000 km², encompassing the rose fields of Karlovo and Kazanlak and part of Nova Zagora. The flowers here are not only beautiful but also provide significant economic benefits. Bulgaria is one of the world's largest producers of rose essential oil (70-85%), and most of that oil is extracted from this valley.

Did you know that it takes 1300 rose blossoms to produce just 1 gram of rose essential oil?

Every year, a rose festival is held in the town of Kazanlak. The most beautiful girl in the area is chosen as the "Rose Queen," along with many other fun activities such as rose-picking competitions, street parades, and folk dance performances. The festival takes place in June every year, right now.
