Vietnam Airlines vừa phát đi thông báo tới khách hàng, công bố một quy định quan trọng nhằm siết chặt quản lý hành lý xách tay và đảm bảo chất lượng dịch vụ

Vietnam Airlines has just issued a notice to customers, announcing an important regulation aimed at tightening the management of carry-on baggage and ensuring service quality.

This is a drastic measure to prevent passengers from violating baggage standards at the last minute, which is a significant cause of delays in the departure process. Vietnam Airlines passengers should pay special attention to this information to prepare for a smooth flight and avoid unnecessary costs.

The new regulations clearly define passengers' responsibilities and obligations regarding their carry-on baggage. Specifically, carry-on baggage deemed to be in excess of the baggage allowance will be subject to a strict fee, equivalent to one piece of checked baggage at the airport, for various violations.

Specifically, according to a notice from Vietnam Airlines sent to customers, carry-on baggage deemed to be in excess of the weight limit will be charged the equivalent of one checked baggage item at the airport in the following cases.

This fee will be applied if baggage exceeds the maximum weight by up to 10 kg, or exceeds the standard weight limit by one piece (maximum 10 kg), or exceeds the standard carry-on baggage dimensions. The application of this fee at the boarding gate is a notable new feature, demonstrating the airline's determination to re-establish baggage discipline and ensure that space and weight limits in the passenger cabin are strictly controlled.

Specifically, if luggage simultaneously exceeds both the maximum weight of 10 kg and the standard dimensions, passengers will be charged a higher fee, equivalent to one oversized checked baggage item at the airport.

Regarding passenger responsibility, the airline only accepts excess carry-on baggage from passengers who are capable of carrying and packing their own luggage.

This is a drastic measure aimed at minimizing the number of non-compliant items brought into the passenger cabin, affecting the comfort and safety of other passengers. For example, on domestic routes like Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, a 23kg checked baggage item costs approximately 600,000 VND. Therefore, if carry-on baggage exceeds the maximum limit by 10kg or one item, the fee charged at the boarding gate could reach 600,000 VND per item, a significant amount compared to the initial cost of the air ticket. For international routes, this fee will be converted to USD and calculated based on the specific flight route and region.

Vietnam Airlines also emphasizes the individual responsibility of each passenger when using the airline's services regarding excess baggage. The airline only accepts and collects fees for passengers who are able to carry and arrange their own baggage without assistance from ground staff or flight attendants. Cases requiring staff intervention to move or arrange baggage will be refused. This regulation aims to ensure a quick and smooth boarding process, minimize processing time, and strictly protect the on-time performance of flights.

Regarding payment methods, the airline allows passengers to use flexible options including cash, credit cards, or debit cards. However, passengers should note that the acceptance of specific payment methods will depend on the specific conditions and payment infrastructure at each operating airport. Therefore, having both electronic and cash payment methods readily available is a practical recommendation to avoid last-minute inconveniences.

For a safe flight, a smooth trip, and no additional costs, passengers should check their baggage allowance when purchasing tickets or purchase extra baggage allowance if they plan to bring more personal belongings than the permitted weight.

To ensure a safe, smooth flight without any unexpected additional costs, each passenger should proactively check the weight and dimensions of their carry-on baggage. Passengers should consider purchasing an additional pre-paid checked baggage package if they plan to bring personal items exceeding the weight limit specified in their ticket class. This proactive approach not only saves passengers money compared to paying at the airport but also contributes to the overall success of the flight.
