To meet the demands of the peak tourist season extending from the Lunar New Year to the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam festival on the 22nd and 23rd of April (lunar calendar), the Management Board of the Nui Sam cultural, historical and tourist site has urgently implemented QR code scanning for quarantine at toll checkpoints to manage visitor entry and exit and check health declarations.
At the same time, the local authorities will strictly manage shuttle services for tourists in accordance with disease prevention and control regulations. At the end of each trip, vehicles must be thoroughly cleaned before continuing transportation. The Chau Doc City Health Center will carry out disinfection spraying at tourist attractions within the Mount Sam National Tourist Area as per regulations and provide disinfection equipment in public restrooms.
The Mount Sam National Tourist Area includes the Ba Chua Xu Temple complex, Tay An Pagoda, and Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum, along with a cable car station that was inaugurated in April 2021.
Since April 2021, the Mount Sam National Tourist Area has inaugurated a cable car system with a total length of 900m, taking visitors to the mountaintop. The cable car station is built in a classical European architectural style, complemented by a unique religious architectural complex such as the Dược Sư Temple and the One Pillar Pagoda, combined with colorful Thangka paintings. With 37 cabins, each with a capacity of 8 passengers, the Mount Sam cable car system can operate continuously 24/7, even during holidays and festivals.
After visiting the famous and sacred complex of relics including the Lady of the Land Temple, Tay An Pagoda, and Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum at the foot of the mountain, visitors can continue by cable car to the summit. Here, visitors have the opportunity to admire a series of majestic religious structures such as the Jade Buddha Temple, which houses a statue of Buddha Shakyamuni crafted from a single block of jade, the temple dedicated to Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, and enjoy panoramic views of Chau Doc city and surrounding areas, relaxing in the cool, fresh mountain breeze.
Victoria Nui Sam Lodge is situated on a hillside, offering panoramic views of the An Giang plain stretching all the way to Cambodia.
After completing their sightseeing and pilgrimage to the Mount Sam tourist area, visitors can enjoy a relaxing stay at Victoria Nui Sam Lodge, located on the mountainside. Situated in the heart of the famous Mekong Delta tourist area, Victoria Nui Sam Lodge features a swimming pool with panoramic views of the rice fields stretching all the way to the Cambodian border, along with a 60-minute yoga class every morning.
In addition, there are high-speed boats that take tourists upstream on the Mekong River, directly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in just about 5 hours. During this journey, tourists will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the daily life of local people on floating houses, the villages along the riverbanks, and the bustling floating markets where merchants from both Vietnam and Cambodia trade.
