Kampung Jodipan, whose full name is Kampung Warna Warni Jodipan, is a village located in northern Java, Indonesia. Adorned with vibrant rainbow colors, few know that this place was once a slum slated for demolition due to severe deterioration and increasing environmental pollution. The residents were urged by the government to relocate because of the extremely poor living conditions.
The Rainbow Village originated from a soon-to-be-demolished slum.
It wasn't until a group of students from Muhammadiyah Malang University visited and decided to completely transform the appearance of Jodipan that the village was revived. After receiving funding from a local paint distributor, the students rallied around 30 local painters and artists to participate in creating giant works of art, turning Kampung Jodipan from a village of dreary houses into a vibrant and colorful place.

The project has miraculously transformed the once dilapidated village into a vibrant and colorful art space.
Jodipan's creative idea of giving his village a new look was inspired by the colorful village in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It's also a slum, but the artists have transformed it into one of Brazil's most impressive destinations.
