Born in 1992 in Hamlet 6, Xuan Thanh Commune, Xuan Truong District, Nguyen The Tuyen began his passion for crafting models of traditional houses in 2022. He shared that childhood memories of his grandparents' house have become his greatest source of inspiration. “This work is both a personal joy and a way for me to preserve traditional cultural and architectural values. Each model I create tells its own story, full of nostalgia,” he confided.

However, the journey of pursuing his passion was not a bed of roses. Initially, Tuyen faced difficulties in finding materials, learning to use crafting tools, and experimenting with new techniques. Balancing time and finances was also a major challenge. He was discouraged many times, but each time he saw a completed model, the joy and satisfaction from customers, as well as his love for traditional architecture, gave him the motivation to continue.
Nguyen The Tuyen's passion for crafting models of ancient houses began in 2022.
To accurately recreate the beauty of old houses, Nguyen The Tuyen uses a variety of materials such as concrete, steel, bricks, tiles, natural wood, and plastic. The choice of appropriate materials depends on the characteristics of each model, helping to create authenticity and vitality for each work.
A complete project typically involves many meticulous steps. First, Tuyen thoroughly researches the architecture and history of the house through documents, images, or accounts from clients. Then, he sketches out ideas and designs detailed blueprints using 3D technology. Next, he selects and prepares materials, from steel and cement to wood and plastic, to assemble the model. The final step is finishing the surface, painting, and creating the time-related effects.

Tuyen shared that the most difficult part of the crafting process is recreating small details such as roof tiles, window frames, or decorative objects. These details require patience and high skill because they determine the vibrancy and realism of the model. "These details require patience and meticulousness because they contribute to giving the house its 'soul'," he said.
To accurately recreate the beauty of the old houses, Nguyen The Tuyen uses a variety of materials to make them as authentic as possible.
One memorable experience for Mr. Tuyen was when he received a request from a client who wanted to recreate their old family home. The house had been demolished long ago, leaving only a few blurry old photographs and descriptions from memory. He spent a lot of time researching, listening, and visualizing, then poured all his heart into recreating it. The result was a model that deeply moved the client, and, as he shared, it was a "great satisfaction" both emotionally and in terms of the value the work brought to him and the client.

Among the orders he has fulfilled, the models recreating customers' old homes are the products that Tuyen is particularly proud of. "These are not just works of art, but also a way for me to help them preserve and recreate memories, an important part of their spiritual lives," he says.
According to Tuyen, the value of a model lies not only in the materials or the effort put in, but also in the story and emotions it conveys. "Each piece is a unique work, connected to the memories and culture of a particular era. A unique story, a different life, and this is what makes them so appealing," he shared.
"It's not just a work of art, but also a way for me to help them preserve and recreate their memories..."

Model making has brought many positive changes to Nguyen The Tuyen's life, not only personally but also opening up new opportunities. "I've honed my patience and creativity through each piece. At the same time, this work has helped me connect with clients, expand my network of collaborators, and showcase my models at art exhibitions," he shared.
Regarding future plans, Mr. Tuyen intends to expand his collection of high-artistic models and organize exhibitions to spread his love for traditional architectural values. He also harbors the idea of holding workshops where he can share his skills, experience, and inspire young people who share the same passion. With meticulousness and dedication, Mr. Tuyen has recreated the beauty of ancient houses, while preserving precious fragments of memory. His works are not only art but also a bridge between the past and the present, demonstrating his appreciation for traditional cultural values.
