The city of Vienna created an OnlyFans account to showcase "adult" artwork.

By opening the OnlyFans account, the city of Vienna (the capital of Austria) has taken a completely new approach to exhibiting artwork in museums, aiming to express "artistic freedom" without strict censorship.

Recently, the Vienna Tourism Board showcased nude artworks from four of Vienna's most prestigious museums on the OnlyFans platform. This initiative stemmed from the increasingly stringent censorship of adult content on other social media sites.

The Vienna Tourism Board stated that the city is home to many world-renowned artists whose "works have transcended the boundaries of what was accepted in society and art in the past," so it is not surprising that these works have been subject to strict censorship that has lasted for over 100 years to the present day.

This is also why Vienna and art organizations in the city have to be cautious about such strict censorship, and have decided to display "uncensored" artwork on OnlyFans, because this social network is the only platform that allows users to freely share 18+ content without censorship.

Previously, several major Austrian museums, such as the Albertina Museum and the Leopold Museum, have faced significant obstacles when posting their works on social media. Last July, the Albertina Museum's TikTok account was blocked shortly after displaying artwork by Japanese artist and photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, depicting a woman with only her breasts partially obscured.

Back in 2019, Instagram announced that a painting by the legendary Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens had violated the social network's community standards. Not stopping there, earlier this year, Facebook and Instagram refused to post a video featuring a work by artist Koloman Moser to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Leopold Museum because it was deemed to contain "pornographic elements."

Vienna is looking to innovate its tourism promotion to the world, ever since the Austrian government announced the easing of restrictions on international visitors. Helena Hartlauer, spokesperson for the Vienna Tourism Council, said the creation of the OnlyFans account is not only to increase tourist interest in Vienna, but also to raise awareness among contemporary artists about censorship standards.

Subscribers to the “Vienna 18+ Content” channel on OnlyFans will receive a Vienna City Card or free tickets to see one of the artworks from Vienna's museums in person.
