A Vietnamese audience member shared their thoughts on the ballet Swan Lake, which premiered on the evening of March 27th: "Praising Svetlana Zakharova is probably unnecessary, but what can I do! She is truly amazing, and her hands... indescribable, every movement feels like it touches the heart!"
Odette and Odile's solo performances were both wonderful. Rodkin was somewhat overshadowed by her, but that was fine; the duet performances were excellent. The ending was very sad, especially in these times of pandemic... life and death are separated by a hair's breadth, and every mistake is irreparable.
As for the Bolshoi's corps de ballet, it was truly world-class, perfectly synchronized. The black swans in Acts 3 and 4 were probably added by Grigorovich in this final version, which makes perfect sense. In short, a wonderful ballet, well worth staying up to see!
Following Swan Lake, the theater plans to premiere five ballets and operas: Sleeping Beauty (March 28), The Tsar's Bride (April 1), Marco Spada (April 4), Boris Godunov (April 7), and The Nutcracker (April 10).
