This is an activity within the Mi Explorers program - one of the most important initiatives for Mi Fans. Selected MiFans will be privileged to use the latest Xiaomi devices, at the same time Xiaomi will collect valuable feedback from them and improve the product.
Xiaomi - the journey to 5G
Xiaomi first signaled its 5G solution in early June 2016 by setting up a team to research and explore the 5G standard in depth. As one of the main participants in the 5G trial project organized by China Mobile, Xiaomi successfully tested the n78 signal connection in September 2018, and completed the mmWave (millimeter wave) signal test just one month later. At that time, only a few phone manufacturers in the world could succeed in this test.

With the mission of innovation, Xiaomi first developed multi-strategic 5G partnerships with major service providers around the world such as 3, Sunrise, TIM, Vodafone, etc. The next step is to bring 5G to users, and to achieve that, Xiaomi has been working tirelessly with service providers since the early days of developing the MI MIX 3 5G. With the official announcement of the MI MIX 3 5G, Xiaomi is now one of the first manufacturers to officially commercialize a 5G smartphone. At the time of launch, Xiaomi demonstrated its readiness for 5G technology by showcasing the MI MIX 3 5G, available with the 5G network provided by Spanish network operator Orange.
“Xiaomi has put tremendous efforts into developing 5G mobile solutions and the MI MIX 3 5G represents Xiaomi’s mission to create innovative products for everyone,” said Wang Xiang, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi. “We are both excited and honored to work with our partners to make 5G a reality for everyone around the world.”
Mi MIX 3 5G - Powerful performance for the new generation of mobile connectivity

With the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X50 5G modem, Mi MIX 3 5G can connect to sub-6GHz signals with gigabit download speeds, 10 times faster than 4G networks. In addition, this is also one of the first phones equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, with a newly designed cooling system, helping to bring strong, stable and long-lasting performance.
Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and enhanced cooling system
Inside the Mi MIX 3 is the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, built on the 7nm process. The octa-core Qualcomm Kryo 485 CPU offers the perfect balance of performance and power efficiency. Each core is 45% faster than the previous generation, the Qualcomm Adreno™ 640 GPU offers up to 20% performance boost over the previous generation, and the latest 4th generation Qualcomm AI Engine delivers 3x faster AI performance. “We are excited to continue our long-term collaboration with Xiaomi to deliver unparalleled 5G speeds and transform the user experience with our latest smartphone, the Mi MIX 3 5G,” said Cristiano Amon, President, Qualcomm.
The sleek look of the MIX 3 5G
To support applications that require high performance for long periods of time, such as team-based gaming, Xiaomi has also developed an optimized cooling system for the MI MIX 3 5G. The Rogers® HeatSORB™ thermal material integrates a fast switching cycle to quickly absorb the heat generated by the device under demanding scenarios and prolonged heat build-up. Then, the passive heat pipe works with six layers of graphite to transfer heat 3 times faster than conventional graphite double-layers.
World-class Photography Capabilities
The Mi MIX 3 5G inherits the 12MP dual AI camera from the Mi MIX 3, which scored a DxOMark photo score of 108 points, and comes with all the AI features one would expect from a Xiaomi phone, including 960 fps slow-motion video recording. For selfies, the Mi MIX 3 5G features a 24MP + 2MP dual camera setup, using the excellent Sony IMX576 sensor for more detailed photos. The camera is managed by the Qualcomm Spectra™ 380 ISP, which delivers a fast and power-efficient shooting experience, so users can take even more photos on a single charge.

Sliding design enhances full-screen visibility
MI MIX 3 5G uses a magnetic sliding mechanism, providing a great interactive experience and flexible customization. Users can set up sliding actions with different effects such as answering calls or launching the camera. Thanks to the sliding design, the screen border is super thin, providing an extremely large screen-to-body ratio. The main highlight is the 6.39" 2340 x 1080 FHD+ Samsung AMOLED screen with a screen-to-body ratio of up to 19.5:9.
Mi 9 - flagship with 3 AI cameras
MI 9 is Xiaomi's first flagship to feature 3 cameras, with the main camera using the latest sensor from Sony IMX586 with 48-megapixel resolution and large 1/2" sensor size.
Users can take photos with high resolution up to 48MP, or in low light conditions, can even take clearer and brighter photos because MI 9 will combine four pixels into one, bringing extremely large pixel size up to 1.6μm.

The AI triple camera is a combination of the main camera, 16MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera that gives the Mi 9 a score of 107 published on the DxOMark website, the second highest score among all tested phones. In addition, the video recording score is up to 99, the highest score on DxoMark for video recording capabilities.
Gorgeous appearance
The MI 9 features a curved design on the back, providing a comfortable grip in the palm of your hand. The enhanced processing on the back of the device creates a fashionable rainbow effect, making a difference in viewing angles. On the front, the MI 9 is equipped with a 6.39-inch 19.5:9 Samsung AMOLED Dot Drop screen. Under the screen is a completely new enhanced fingerprint sensor, helping to unlock the phone 25% faster than the previous generation.

“Inspired by Antoni Gaudi, the beauty of MI 9 combines light reflection, smooth curves, and the use of natural elements to create a monolithic architectural art,” said Carlos Canals Roura, President of the Gaudi Academy of Knowledge.
World's first 20W wireless charging; TÜV safe fast charging certification
Inside the MI 9 is a large 3300mAh battery, and it also has fast charging capabilities for both wired and wireless. This method has received certification from the prestigious German institute, TUV Rheinland, for safe fast charging capabilities.
The 27W wired charging supports Qualcomm's QC4+ fast charging standard, allowing the Mi 9 to safely charge to 70% in just 30 minutes and fully charge in just 60 minutes. When used with the new 20W Mi Wireless Charging Pad, the Mi 9 can be fully charged in just 90 minutes, as fast as some wired charging solutions.
Mi LED Smart Lamp

Xiaomi also announced the Mi LED smart lamp during the product launch. Equipped with 16 million colors and customizable color temperature and brightness, users can control the light remotely via the MI HOME app. Compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa at the same time, the MI LED smart lamp also supports Apple Home Kit in Q2/2019.
The MI LED smart lamp is now available in Europe starting at 19.9 euros.
