On the afternoon of October 14th, Mr. Dang Cong Da, Deputy Head of the Culture and Information Department of Ngu Hanh Son District (Da Nang), reported that after inspecting and handling violations by restaurants and hotels regarding the lettering on advertising signs, the team discovered and recorded 35 cases of violations.
Specifically, on streets with a high concentration of restaurants and hotels such as Nguyen Van Thoai, Tran Bach Dang, Vo Nguyen Giap, Ho Xuan Huong, and the An Thuong tourist area, the inspection team discovered many restaurants, massage parlors, and eateries with signs written entirely in Chinese and Korean.
Some restaurants in Da Nang intentionally place Chinese characters above Vietnamese characters, making them larger and more prominent than the Vietnamese text.
After drawing up the report, the inspection team invited all representatives of the violating establishments to the district People's Committee headquarters for processing, and at the same time educated the public about the regulations in the 2012 Advertising Law.
"Cases of violations must be rectified before October 25th. After October 25th, if restaurant and hotel owners do not rectify the issues, we will take strict action according to regulations," Mr. Da affirmed. According to Mr. Da, some business owners have already rectified the violations on their signs, and the Department of Culture and Information continues to closely monitor the situation.
