On February 2nd, the People's Committee of Da Lat City issued a decision to impose administrative penalties in the tourism sector on a 57-year-old female businesswoman (Director of Dream Flower Hotel Co., Ltd.) for discriminatory behavior towards tourists (4 million VND) and failure to notify authorities before commencing operations as required (4 million VND).
According to verified information, during the Lunar New Year holiday, a female tourist from Binh Thuan province booked and paid for a hotel room. However, upon arrival, the hotel owner refused to accept her, using discriminatory and insulting language because the tourist was of Chinese descent. The female tourist recorded a video and posted it on social media to report the incident.
Located in Ward 3, Da Lat City, the hotel offers not only accommodation but also a large cafe and a photo spot for tourists.
Upon receiving this information, the inter-agency inspection team of Da Lat City went to Dream Flower Hotel, Ward 3, and issued an administrative violation report in the tourism sector against the female manager of the hotel, and contacted the female tourist to apologize.
According to Mr. Le Anh Kiet, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Da Lat City, the city has long published a hotline number to receive feedback from tourists and local people about violations in tourism activities.
"All complaints received through the hotline are verified and processed quickly to protect the rights of tourists, while also rectifying violations and irregularities by tourism service businesses and individuals," Mr. Kiet said.
Mr. Kiet also added that Dream Flower Hotel only officially opened in December 2022 without prior notification. The hotel's actions are inappropriate, negatively impacting tourism in Da Lat City, and are inconsistent with the Da Lat culture and the regulations in the Da Lat Cultural Code of Conduct.
