The Hot Air Balloon Festival is an activity to diversify tourism products, thereby affirming the image of a city with "safe - attractive - vibrant and exciting" destinations on the Vietnamese and international tourism map. In addition, the activity also prepares for welcoming international tourists back to Ho Chi Minh City in 2022.

According to balloon experts, in order to provide a complete experience while still ensuring safety for visitors, the balloon crews need about 20 days to prepare. By the evening of January 20, the balloon crews were present at Thu Thiem Park to begin preparing for the test flight very carefully before performing the performances.
On the morning of January 22, 16 hot air balloons took turns flying over the city, quickly attracting viewers with their striking colors against the blue sky. However, during the afternoon flight, due to the influence of wind, the pilots had difficulty controlling the hot air balloons, many of which flew unsteadily and swayed continuously.

In addition to the hot air balloon performances, people can also enjoy watching yacht parades, paragliding performances and water sports. In particular, the paragliding performance takes place in 2 time slots from 9:30 - 10:30 and from 16:30 - 17:30.
