2 PM: Check-in at the hotel
Even in the heart of Hanoi, there are dozens of 5-star hotels, but not all of them offer the resort-like ambiance and proximity to the city center that the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake does. This is the only hotel that floats entirely on the water of West Lake. All rooms face the lake, creating a relaxing atmosphere in the floating bungalows.
The hotel has nearly 300 rooms, 3 restaurants, and 3 bars. If you book a weekend offer, you can check in late until 4 PM.
Stepping into the hotel grounds, you'll find a peaceful and spacious atmosphere, a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the outside world. After checking in, you can take a stroll or visit the 800-year-old Kim Lien Pagoda located right next door. Around 5 PM is the time to watch the sun slowly set with its vibrant red glow. West Lake is famous as one of the most beautiful sunset spots in Hanoi, so you shouldn't miss the opportunity to witness this moment from your room's balcony. The hotel also offers afternoon tea for guests who wish to enjoy it in a private setting with stunning views.
7 PM: Dinner with steak.
Dining at a rooftop restaurant to admire the city's sparkling lights is a great idea for a change of scenery. You'll find it hard to resist the view from the restaurant at a height of 300 meters, located in Hanoi's tallest hotel - InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72. Among them, on the 62nd floor is Stellar Steakhouse, Asia's most luxurious steakhouse – an award given by the World Luxury Restaurant Awards in 2019.
The steakhouse on the 62nd floor is open from 6 PM to 10:30 PM daily.
Each evening, the restaurant serves only about 10 tables, with main courses featuring the finest beef from around the world, from Australia to Japan and the United States. You might be a little overwhelmed by the variety of meats listed on the menu, along with the countless cooking methods, accompanying ingredients, and sauces. However, the staff will provide enthusiastic and professional advice to help you have the most satisfying dinner. Besides beef, the restaurant also serves caviar, seafood, cold cuts, and cheese. Children have a separate menu with burgers, spaghetti, and, of course, steak.
Additionally, from now until December 30, 2019, if you are an IHG Rewards Club member, you will receive a 10-30% discount when dining at restaurants and bars within the group's hotels. This is the first "Delicious Dish of the Day" program applied to both hotel guests and non-hotel guests.
10 PM: Relax at Sunset Bar
This is a floating bar on West Lake, located within the grounds of the 5-star InterContinental Hanoi Westlake hotel. With soothing music and soft lighting, the bar offers guests a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy cocktails and relax at the end of the day. It's not too noisy or crowded; on the contrary, everyone can easily find their own private corner without feeling out of place. Some of the bar's signature cocktails include Sapa Spring, Hanoi Breeze, and Pomelo Freeze. You can choose to sit indoors or outdoors to admire the lights reflecting on the rippling surface of the lake.
The hotel bar is open from 4 PM to midnight.
8:00 AM: Breakfast
If you can wake up early, go for a short jog along the lakeside path. This is where many people choose to start their day, breathing in the fresh air before breakfast. The hotel has three restaurants serving breakfast, with the Diplomat Lounge offering set menus instead of a buffet. It's smaller but quieter, with views of the lakeside park and the daily life of the locals.
West Lake is a place where you can experience peace amidst the bustling capital city.
Besides Kim Lien Pagoda, you can easily explore attractions around the accommodation such as Tay Ho Palace, Nhat Tan Flower Garden, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Long Bien Bridge… These places are within a 3 km radius of the hotel.
At 12 PM, you check out of your hotel, concluding your 24-hour "exploration" of Hanoi – a short but guaranteed to leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed after a busy week.
