The Covid-19 pandemic dealt a severe blow to the tourism industry worldwide. The number of tourists at popular destinations plummeted. Therefore, as soon as the pandemic was brought under control, many countries began reopening and lifting restrictions to attract tourists. (Photo: Unsplash)

However, to date, some places have yet to remove the final barriers to fully reopen to tourists. Upon entry, travelers need to present a passport showing vaccination, a certificate of recovery, or a negative test result from certain countries and territories. Photo: AFP.

China:International tourists are still unable to visit China because the country remains closed to tourism as part of its Zero-Covid strategy. China has reduced the mandatory quarantine period to 7 days and requires incoming travelers to self-isolate at home for an additional 3 days. However, only those with Chinese citizenship, permanent residency, or an invitation letter can enter China during this time. Photo: Diem Nhi Nguyen.

Taiwan (China):This is the only destination in the world that is completely closed to tourists. Even with a vaccine passport, a certificate of recovery, or a negative test result, you cannot enter Taiwan. Currently, this destination only allows foreign citizens to apply for special entry permits for volunteer work, religious work, religious research, internships, international exchanges, and the Working Holiday visa program. Hong Kong (China):In May, Hong Kong reopened to tourism but continued to impose some Covid-19 restrictions on foreign visitors. Tourists must comply with regulations such as presenting proof of a full Covid-19 vaccination, a negative nucleic acid test result, and a reservation for a designated quarantine hotel before boarding. Japan:From June 10th, Japan will grant entry to tourists from 98 countries and territories on the green zone list. However, tourists must register for group tours through a travel agency and have accompanying tour guides. Tourists only need a negative PCR test result before departure; vaccination certificates, airport testing, quarantine, or other preventative measures are not required. Photo: Lonely Planet.

Canada:Visitors to Canada do not need to prepare a negative test certificate in advance; they will be randomly tested upon arrival. If the result is positive, you will have to quarantine for 10 days. Photo: Pexels.
