A mark of history
Once a bustling trading center from the 16th to the 19th centuries, Hoi An attracted many merchants from Japan, China, Portugal, and France. Today, the influence of many cultures still lingers in the lives of the people here, from shops painted in mustard yellow to traditional food, folk crafts, and coffee culture.
Vietnamese basket boats are very common in the waters around Hoi An and Da Nang.
Visitors can clearly feel this in the central neighborhoods. The Tan Ky ancient house, a blend of Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese architecture, is a popular destination in Hoi An's old town. At the western end of the old town, the 18th-century Japanese Bridge is also a popular spot for tourists.
Amazing food
Visitors will be captivated by the culinary culture of Hoi An. From street food snacks sold by vendors to regional specialties at the central market, such as White Rose steamed buns (made with shrimp, pork, and onions wrapped in translucent rice paper) or crispy Cao Lau noodles; and the famous Quang noodles served with shrimp, pork, and fresh vegetables, visitors will experience a true "culinary adventure".
Hoi An bread has a very unique flavor.
And of course, when talking about Hoi An cuisine, one cannot forget banh mi, a dish created by combining traditional and modern values. The most delicious and crispy banh mi, filled with pate, grilled pork, chili sauce, and herbs, can easily be found in the Old Quarter with famous brands such as Madame Phuong, Madam Khanh, The Banh Mi Queen…
Unique souvenirs
In Hoi An, visitors can freely choose unique souvenirs at every corner, from tailor shops and leather workshops to coffee roasters, handcrafted pottery stalls, bamboo lantern shops, and modern home decor stores.

When it comes to tailoring, shops like Sam Ao Dai, Hung An Cloth Shop, or May Bee Tailor are sure to please visitors with their exquisite, bespoke garments. For a more upscale and luxurious experience, Yaly Couture or A Dong Silk, specializing in bespoke clothing, are reliable choices.
In addition, household accessories such as hand-painted tiles, bamboo furniture, eco-friendly clothing, bedding, and bathroom accessories are always favorite items for many young people when visiting Hoi An.
Amazing beaches
Hoi An is a town closer to the river than to the sea, yet those who love the sun and sea breeze can easily find beautiful beaches when they visit.
While My Khe Beach (Da Nang) may be the most famous beach in central Vietnam, An Bang Beach (Hoi An) is arguably the most beautiful. Along this tranquil coastline, you can experience a relaxing feeling sitting under the sunshades with a few chilled beers and listening to live music.
An Bang Beach is just a few kilometers from Hoi An.
Another ideal destination is the beaches surrounding the Son Tra Peninsula, a nature reserve located about 25 minutes north of My Khe by car. The seawater here is very clear and clean.
A paradise for two-wheelers
Whether you prefer cycling or enjoying the thrill of riding a Vespa, Hoi An's wide streets are ideal for exploring on two-wheeled vehicles.
Hoi An launched a bike-sharing program in early June, and most hotels now offer bike rentals. It's easy to explore the old town, or you can cycle to Cam Nam, a small village on the southern island across the Hoai River, to discover the rustic life of the countryside.
Vespa Adventures offers travelers the chance to explore Hoi An on classic Italian scooters.
For rural tours, Vespa Adventures is the best choice for travelers. Sitting behind Italian scooters dating back to the 1960s, this half-day excursion becomes especially enjoyable as you explore the Thu Bon River on a small boat, cross a bamboo bridge, and admire the lush green rice fields.
World-class relaxation services
Hoi An is only a little over 20km from Da Nang city, so visitors can enjoy some of Vietnam's most luxurious hotels here. First on the list is the opulent InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula, designed by renowned resort architect Bill Bensley. This resort is considered a modern oasis located on the Son Tra peninsula, a nature reserve that is home to the rare platypus.
Four Seasons South Sea, one of the most luxurious resorts in Central Vietnam.
Next is the Four Seasons Resort in the South Sea along the coast, where you can enjoy exquisite Vietnamese cuisine at the upscale La Sen restaurant. Nearby, Fusion Maia has become a high-end wellness haven, promising guests unlimited spa treatments. Like Alila Hoi An and Rosewood Guangzhou, this area will also soon welcome the Dusit Thani Hoi An resort in 2021 and the adjacent Rosewood Hoi An resort in 2021.
"Side trip"
After experiencing the wonders of Hoi An, you can also take a "side trip" to Hue, located 126km from Hoi An. In Hue, you can learn about the history and architecture of the ancient capital situated on the romantic Perfume River. Here, visitors, especially history enthusiasts, will be delighted to visit the tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors (the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam), numerous fortifications, and beautiful temples.
