Moscow began phase 2 of easing lockdown restrictions in early June.
On May 28, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced that the second phase of easing lockdown restrictions was possible due to a sustained decline in Covid-19 infection rates. Starting June 1, residents of Moscow, including those over 65 and citizens with chronic illnesses, will be allowed to leave their homes for walks and sports.
According to the Mayor of Moscow, the "strolling" mode, being tested from June 1st to June 14th, will allow parks and green spaces to reopen to the public. However, the increased number of people on the streets and in parks will increase the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. To prevent this, mask-wearing regulations will be strengthened, and playground equipment in parks will remain closed.

The UK has a higher COVID-19 death rate than other countries.
On May 28, the Financial Times (FT) published research showing that the death rate from the Covid-19 respiratory disease in the UK was the highest among the hardest-hit countries, based on comparable tracking data. Official figures from the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), released earlier this week, showed that between March 14 and 20, the number of deaths in the UK was nearly 60,000 higher than usual. From this, the FT conducted an analysis, using data from 19 countries, showing that the SARS-CoV-2 virus directly or indirectly claimed the lives of 891 people per million inhabitants in the UK. This is the highest rate among the countries included in the analysis.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 in Europe has risen to over 175,000.

The worrying thing is that these numbers show no sign of stopping; on the contrary, they may continue to rise as all US states begin the first phase of reopening their economies by easing social distancing measures.
