Deer Park Heights is a vast area, approximately 800 hectares, blessed with many stunning natural landscapes.
This area first opened to visitors in 1966 and quickly became a popular destination. Visitors can both admire the stunning scenery and have the opportunity to experience fun activities on the farm.

Therefore, this place has also caught the attention of many filmmakers, such as the blockbuster "Lord of the Rings". However, for the past 11 years, this area has been closed to tourists because the owner fears it will affect the deer herd living there.

According to recent information, in 2020, Mike Mee, the farm owner, decided to reopen to visitors. He said, "This is a wonderful destination and it would be a shame not to share it. We will open our doors to those who want to spend time with nature and animals, especially families."

Visitors wishing to explore Deer Park Heights must book in advance through the website. An online map will guide visitors to various filming locations for "Lord of the Rings," picnic areas, and wildlife viewing spots. The park is home to a diverse range of animals, including wild deer, goats, American ponies, alpacas, donkeys, and Kunekune pigs.

These animals often roam the trails, sunbathe, graze, and the scenery is just like their natural habitat. Therefore, this is also the reason why the owner of Deer Park Heights decided to close the farm for 11 years, fearing that humans would affect them.

Mike said that only vehicles with fewer than seven seats are allowed inside, excluding buses and family cars. There is no entry for pedestrians or cyclists because they often scare animals, especially deer.
