On April 9th, the wedding of young couple My Phuong and The Manh took place at a wedding venue in Ho Chi Minh City. What was special about it was...themeThe centerpiece of the wedding was the famous painting "Starry Night" by the renowned artist Vincent van Gogh.

The couple had been together for six years and officially tied the knot in April of this year. The groom grew up in Saigon, and the bride also studied and worked in the city for many years. When deciding on their wedding reception, My Phuong and The Manh chose a...conceptIt's different, a symbolic image with meaning that isn't flashy or gaudy.
"Both of us love going to the beach, and we have many memories associated with water and the sea," shared the bride, My Phuong. "I've always loved the image of the moon, because of its beauty and eternity. On every beach trip at night, we always gaze at the moon reflecting on the sea and absolutely adore that image."
"For me personally, choosing this decorating theme also carries another profound meaning," My Phuong added, "The moon and the sea are two different and distant entities (in the sky - in the sea), but somehow, the moonlight still shines down on the sea surface, creating a beautiful, magical space where we don't feel any distance. Love is the same; we two seemed so different, yet we still found each other, creating a beautiful love story."

I love the moonlight and the sea, but why "Starry Night"?
“We love blue and dark tones, and we didn’t want a wedding that was overflowing with flowers or overly fairytale-like to be considered ‘beautiful’ in the way people think. What was important was that the venue had real meaning and was the most suitable for us.”
“With that in mind, after many discussions with Je T’aime Art, we came up with the idea of drawing inspiration from van Gogh’s painting to tell our story, to fully express the desires of the two of us in that space,” – bride My Phuong recounted the journey to deciding to recreate the painting “Starry Night”.
Reportedly, the couple chose Je T'aime Art – an art-themed wedding venue in Ho Chi Minh City – to entrust their ideas and create the perfect space. The bride also revealed that she had been following Je T'aime Art for about 10 years and had always dreamed of having her wedding held there.

In addition to the walls and stage floor imprinted with stars against a deep blue sky, Je T'aime Art also created a flower boat "catching" the moonlight.
"That's when the moon casts its light down on the sea, creating a stream of happiness, a stream that will carry our marriage ship to blossom and be fulfilled," My Phuong said.

My Phuong further shared that initially, their wedding was scheduled for the end of last year, and the couple had met and discussed with the wedding organizers since May 2021. However, due to the pandemic, the plan had to be postponed, and the conceptualization process continued from the beginning of this year. Notably, most of the materials and props used to recreate the "Starry Night" painting were handcrafted by Je T'aime Art, and the image was painted with watercolors over two days to complete the stage space for the reception.
"The way the materials are layered to create an incredibly impressive floating effect makes guests feel like they're standing inside a giant 3D Starry Night painting," shared Nguyen Thanh Luan, the photographer who took the couple's wedding photos, on Facebook.
"With a little more magical lighting and music, the wedding transported me back to those enchanting van Gogh exhibitions from across the ocean."

Starry Night is a particularly special painting, created during a special period in the life of the renowned artist Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890), when van Gogh began to master the use of color.greenandYellowIn his paintings, it was also during a time when his mental illness had worsened.
Van Gogh moved to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence for treatment. There, he rented an additional room to use as a studio and, from behind the window, completed his painting *Starry Night*. A year later, he (allegedly) shot himself in a wheat field.
In his final years of solitude, van Gogh was obsessed with the idea of recreating the sky of Southern France. Ultimately, the painter succeeded – a "starry night" powerfully imbued with his spirit and will. But perhaps the artist never imagined that, more than 100 years later, Starry Night would remain just that – a symbol of his enduring legacy.living, but it also becomes an inspiration... and a source of happiness for couples.
