At around 4:00 p.m. on September 27, the Yen Ngoc 02 accommodation ship, registration number QN-6138 of the Yen Ngoc Hotel private enterprise, was anchored in the Sung Sot cave area in Ha Long Bay when a fire broke out.
Fire broke out from the stern of the ship.
After receiving the news, the fire department dispatched a firefighting ship and two rescue boats at sea to coordinate with the Ha Long Bay Management Board's ship to the scene to put out the fire.
By 5:00 p.m. the same day, the fire was under control, firefighters continued to spray water to cool and extinguish the fire.
According to the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, at the time of the fire, all tourists and crew were visiting Sung Sot cave so there were no human casualties.
Sung Sot Cave is one of the most magnificent stalactite caves in the bay complex.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
