Since the end of the pandemic, many travelers have turned to solo travel to satisfy their wanderlust and seek privacy. According to data from Solo Traveler World, a 2021 survey of 43,000 readers, most people travel alone because they want to feel free. 66% of respondents said they were too eager to travel and couldn't wait any longer.

“Once I’ve had a successful solo trip, I feel confident that I can travel everywhere… Then I look back and reflect on what makes me happy. I realize that traveling makes me happy, and gradually I arrange things so I can travel more.” – Travel blogger Ha La La shared in the Di-Dich Podcast, episode 3, “Traveling Alone, Why Not?”.

Solo travel is a result of the growing demand for more sustainable and meaningful vacations. You can spend time researching local culture, customs, and languages, shopping, and enjoying delicious food at your destination. By traveling solo, people feel more connected to the local community. Travelers are also increasingly seeking out unique and unusual tours, or simply wanting to experience the feeling of walking alone at sunset in a new place – things they've never tried before.

Happiness is sometimes something we always wait for others to bring to us. It could be the affection of others, job opportunities, money, or simply waiting for someone to travel with us. But traveling alone means you have more flexibility in changing your plans. Solo travelers often find happiness in their own choices, rather than waiting for others to give it to them.

Travel blogger Tuan Cuong Chan also shared in the program: "I quit my job for almost two years just to travel. During those two years, 80% of my time was spent traveling alone. I found that traveling independently created a huge attraction... and everything motivated me to travel more."

Many other factors, such as the shift from working in the office to working remotely, the convenience of technology, and improved health, have fueled solo travel. If you enjoy traveling alone, be sure to listen to the Di-Dịch Podcast, episode 3, "Traveling Alone, Why Not?".
