The Da Nang City Department of Tourism stated that it had conducted an on-site investigation and gathered information regarding the incident where a tourist complained that a security guard at the Amanda Hotel in Da Nang unexpectedly opened a room door while the guest was asleep.

The Da Nang City Department of Tourism has just announced that on July 22nd, they conducted an on-site investigation to gather information regarding the incident reported by a tourist at the Amanda Hotel in Da Nang. Following the meeting, the hotel management signed a commitment not to disclose any private personal information of customer Th. The working group also requested the hotel to review and improve its guest reception and service procedures to ensure safety and professionalism.

In addition, representatives of the working group also contacted tourist Th. by phone, informing her that Amanda Hotel had admitted its mistake and committed to not disclosing her images to the public. Ms. Th. accepted the apology and agreed not to pursue the matter further.

Ms. Th. said she felt very reassured when officials from the Da Nang City Department of Tourism directly called to inform her and clarify the incident. "After the incident, my husband and I felt worried and uneasy. However, when the department officials contacted us, I felt more at ease. The officials were very cooperative and listened to tourists' concerns, which made me have a more positive impression of Da Nang tourism. I hope that the involvement of the authorities will help tourists no longer feel anxious when visiting Da Nang," Ms. Th. said. According to Ms. Th., the hotel has not yet contacted her directly.

Previously, Ms. Vo Thi Th. and her husband (from Quang Ngai) along with two cousins went on a 3-day, 2-night trip to Hoi An and Da Nang. On July 18th, after experiencing an amusement park in Hoi An, the whole family drove back to Da Nang city and rented a room at Amanda Hotel Da Nang for 400,000 VND/room/night.

Around 5:20 AM, while sound asleep, Ms. Th. was startled awake by the sound of her room door opening. She was skeptical, thinking she might be dreaming. She considered calling her husband but worried he was a long-distance driver and needed rest. At 8 AM the next morning, when checking out, Ms. Th. proactively asked the staff if anyone had entered or left her room that morning. "The receptionist assured me that no one could have entered without my room key," Ms. Th. said. However, still feeling uneasy, she requested to check the security camera footage.

Faced with Ms. Th.'s firm stance, the hotel manager checked the security camera footage with her and confirmed that when Ms. Th. saw the room door open, it was indeed a hotel security guard on duty who, due to an oversight, entered Ms. Th.'s room by mistake. Following the incident, the hotel manager apologized to Ms. Th. and her husband and offered to waive the room charge. However, Ms. Th. resolutely refused.

"My husband and I have a habit of 'sleeping naked' (referring to sleeping together without clothes). I chose hotels instead of motels because of privacy and safety. When the security guard opened the door without permission while we were sleeping, I felt very worried. I was afraid that private images of my husband and I might be leaked," Ms. Th. said. "I asked the hotel to absolutely guarantee that no sensitive images of customers would be disseminated. However, the manager only apologized. That made me feel unsatisfied and uneasy," Ms. Th. added.

According to Ms. Th., she felt that the hotel had many unethical practices. Firstly, at first, the hotel staff insisted that no one had a card to enter the guest's room. Only after checking the camera did the hotel admit that the security guard had made a "mistake". Secondly, the hotel said the security guard went to check room 804 and mistakenly went to Ms. Th.'s room (805). However, according to the camera, after the mistake, this person did not go to room 804 to check further. "I find it even more confusing that the hotel security guard has a card to access all rooms and entered the room without knocking," Ms. Th. said.

After the incident, Ms. Th. left the hotel and wrote a post sharing her experience on social media.
