Historical tourism "explodes" in Dien Bien Phu

In May, coming to Dien Bien province to visit historical sites is a meaningful experience, as well as an opportunity to remember and acknowledge the losses and sacrifices of thousands of soldiers and civilians who contributed to the victory "Resounding throughout the five continents, shaking the earth".

The Dien Bien Phu Battlefield National Historical Site not only has great historical value but is also a symbol of culture, society, science and economy. It plays an important and special role not only for Vietnam but also brings great historical value and significance to the whole world.

According to statistics from the Dien Bien Provincial Relic Management Board, the number of tourists visiting the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield historical relic sites in 2020 was 163,168 people, accounting for 70% of the total number of visitors to Dien Bien.

Along with that, the results of the survey of tourists' opinions at the relic sites show that most of them come to Dien Bien mainly because of the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Relic with its special historical value. In 2021, the number of tourists decreased to 101,252, and in the first 4 months of 2022, this number was 60,787. Of these, 60,708 tourists were Vietnamese, the remaining 79 were tourists from other countries.

Accordingly, due to the large number of visitors, many hotels and motels in Dien Bien Phu City only have single rooms left. Large groups of visitors during this time have difficulty booking hotel rooms because most of them have been sold out.

Currently, Dien Bien authorities have mobilized more than 100 eligible households to register for accommodation services, adding nearly 2,000 more accommodations.
