The Dien Bien Phu Battlefield National Special Historical Site not only possesses immense historical value but also serves as a symbol of culture, society, science, and economics. It plays a crucial and special role not only for Vietnam but also holds immense historical value and significance for the entire world.
According to statistics from the Dien Bien Provincial Relics Management Board, the number of tourists visiting the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield historical sites in 2020 was 163,168, accounting for 70% of the total number of visitors to Dien Bien.
The Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, with its rhombus-shaped architecture, is a must-see for tourists.
The A1 Hill historical site is one of the tourist attractions in Dien Bien.
Furthermore, survey results of tourists at historical sites show that the majority of them come to Dien Bien primarily because of the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield historical site with its special historical value. In 2021, the number of tourists decreased to 101,252, and in the first four months of 2022, this number was 60,787. Of these, 60,708 tourists were Vietnamese, while the remaining 79 were tourists from other countries.
Consequently, due to the overwhelming number of visitors, many hotels and guesthouses in Dien Bien Phu city only have a few rooms left. Large groups of tourists are having difficulty booking hotel rooms during this period because most are already sold out.
Currently, the Dien Bien authorities have mobilized more than 100 eligible households to register for accommodation services, adding nearly 2,000 more housing options.
