In the first six months of this year, Khanh Hoa province welcomed more than 1,046,000 tourists, an increase of 128.6% compared to the same period last year; reaching 87.2% of the 2022 plan.
Of these, international visitors reached 42,507, an increase of 122.5% compared to the same period last year, exceeding the 2022 target of 40,000. In June alone, the province welcomed approximately 350,000 visitors, including about 13,000 international tourists. Tourism revenue for the first six months is estimated at nearly 5,550 billion VND, an increase of 209.4% compared to the same period last year, exceeding the 2022 target of 4,000 billion VND.
According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, the province has 1,147 tourist accommodation establishments with more than 52,000 rooms. Of these, 96 establishments are rated 3-5 stars with 22,934 rooms, accounting for nearly 50% of the total number of rooms in the province. There are 148 travel service businesses in the province; including 29 domestic travel agencies and 119 international travel agencies.
Nha Trang has always attracted a loyal base of foreign tourists.
The number of domestic and international tourists visiting Khanh Hoa has increased rapidly. Nha Trang beach, east of Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong roads, is packed with beachgoers. Tourist attractions such as VinWonders Nha Trang, Hon Tam Tourist Area, Nha Trang Bay tours, Orchid Island and Monkey Island, Diep Son Island - Doc Let, and Vinh Hy - Suoi Tien - Ninh Thuan are popular with tourists. Long queues at Nha Trang Tourist Pier to take speedboats (cable car service temporarily suspended) to VinWonders Nha Trang have become a daily sight.
According to Nguyen Trung Thanh, a tour guide, "This summer, Nha Trang has seen a surge in hotel bookings. While primarily domestic tourists, we've also seen many groups from South Korea, Australia, India, and Malaysia. Many resorts are operating at full capacity, doubling their staff to meet demand." Resorts in Bai Dai such as The Anam, Movenpick Cam Ranh, and other beachfront hotels in Nha Trang are all experiencing high occupancy rates this summer.
According to Mr. Tran Van Phu, head of the Nha Trang tourist pier, in recent weeks, the number of tourists taking sea and island tours in Nha Trang Bay has been very high, with approximately 4,000 visitors per day. On weekends, this number can reach 6,000-7,000 visitors per day.
Tourist boats and canoes are operating at almost full capacity to meet demand. Most tourists are taking tours to the three islands of Hon Mun and Hon Tam, as well as visiting the fishing village, Bai Tranh beach, Coral Bay, and Hon Soi island. At the end of June, after the temporary suspension of scuba diving at Hon Mun, tourists shifted their focus to diving at Bai Tranh beach and Coral Bay. Hon Tam tourist area welcomed approximately 75,000 visitors. The two tourist areas of Hoa Lan Island and Monkey Island also attracted a large number of tourists, with around 1,000 visitors per day, and 1,200-1,300 visitors on weekends.
Group tours from Nha Trang to neighboring localities such as Ninh Thuan, Da Lat, Tuy Hoa, and Phan Thiet are also attracting increasing attention from tourists, bringing new appeal to this beautiful coastal and island region. Mr. Tran Van Duc - Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association said: “Coastal and island tours have always been a strength of Nha Trang every summer, especially this summer with many high-end beach resort products associated with yachts and sailboats. Yachts like Emperor, Horizon, Sea Coral, and Catamaran sailboats… all offer tours taking guests to enjoy the beauty of Nha Trang Bay and Nha Phu Lagoon.”
In particular, sunset tours at Nha Phu Lagoon attract a large number of tourists. Recently, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province also allowed Sealife Group Co., Ltd. to pilot the operation of overnight tourist accommodation vessels in Nha Trang Bay.
Nha Trang exceeded its tourism target of 4,000 billion VND.
Hon En Adventure Sports Tourism Co., Ltd., in coordination with the Department of Culture and Sports of Khanh Hoa province, also organized the opening ceremony of the Nha Trang Paragliding Festival 2022. The aim was to introduce and provide new and exciting experiences to domestic and international tourists about the sport of paragliding, creating a foundation to promote the development of adventure sports and stimulate tourism in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa.
The rapid increase in the number of tourists in Nha Trang city shows that the locality has truly recovered strongly and the tourism industry is regaining its "momentum" as a key economic sector. With a series of programs in the "Nha Trang - Welcome Summer" event series to serve and attract tourists, Khanh Hoa will also finalize the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism and Culture Handbook to support the province's tourism promotion efforts.
