Ticket bookings to popular tourist attractions during the Qingming Festival holiday increased fivefold compared to the same period in 2023, according to a report from Chinese online travel company Qunar.
According to China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, about 119 million domestic trips were made during the holiday, up 11.5% year-on-year. Tourism revenue was estimated at 54 billion yuan ($7.56 billion), up 12.7% year-on-year.

Famous tourist destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Kunming, Lijiang... recorded a large number of visitors. Natural tourist destinations such as Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, and Three Gorges also attracted many visitors.
After a long period of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese people have a high demand to travel, explore and experience new things. The Qingming Festival usually takes place at the transition between spring and summer, when the weather is nice and pleasant, which is the ideal time for outdoor tourism activities. Therefore, the Chinese Government has implemented many measures to support tourism recovery after the pandemic, such as reducing prices for air tickets, train tickets, sightseeing tickets, etc.
