Chinese tourism "explodes" during Qingming Festival

The recent Qingming Festival holiday saw a tourism boom in China, marking an important step in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ticket bookings to popular tourist attractions during the Qingming Festival holiday increased fivefold compared to the same period in 2023, according to a report from Chinese online travel company Qunar.

According to China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, about 119 million domestic trips were made during the holiday, up 11.5% year-on-year. Tourism revenue was estimated at 54 billion yuan ($7.56 billion), up 12.7% year-on-year.
