The newest Costa Venezia Genova, recently launched, is one of the first two cruise ships built and designed specifically for the Chinese market. The two new Costa cruise ships are scheduled for delivery in 2019 (Venezia) and 2020 (yet to be named). Both were built by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. Each ship has a gross tonnage of 135,500 tons, 2,116 cabins, and a passenger capacity of 4,200 (up to double – 5,260 passengers).

Costa Venezia's inaugural voyage was planned for March 8, 2019, heading east from Europe to China. The planned 53-day "world tour," from March 8 to April 29, would travel from Trieste to Yokohama via the Suez Canal, through Croatia, Greece, Israel (via the Suez Canal), Jordan, Oman, the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi), India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China (Hong Kong), Taiwan, and Japan.

This itinerary is offered to customers in three different segments: a 20-day trip (Trieste - Dubai), an 18-day trip (Dubai - Singapore), and a 17-day trip (Singapore - Yokohama). The ship will be delivered in China (Shanghai) this year and will continue its exclusive passenger transport operations in the Asian region.
