On March 12, 2022, Post and Telecommunication Equipment Joint Stock Company (POSTEF) issued a report to the 2022 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. It mentioned the construction at 61 Tran Phu (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi). Accordingly, the two-story house built during the French colonial period running along four sides of Hung Vuong - Tran Phu - Le Truc - Nguyen Thai Hoc streets, next to Ba Dinh Square, will be demolished to build an 11-story multifunctional building. Immediately, this information sparked mixed reactions from public opinion and Hanoi residents in particular.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Ky Anh - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture said that this French factory is not included in the "List of other architectural works built before 1954 that need to focus resources to preserve and promote cultural values" issued by the Hanoi People's Council.
"The building at 61 Tran Phu is an industrial building built by the French, the structure is not special. The sawtooth roof architecture here is also similar to many other buildings. The newly built building has been identified as an 11-storey multi-functional building, and putting it in this area is suitable for the city's development requirements. The building's architecture, in my opinion, is quite beautiful" - Mr. Ky Anh said. Accordingly, the above land belongs to the Ba Dinh political center and needs to be planned, so the investor building the hotel at 61 Tran Phu is appropriate.

However, Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung also requested to handle the responsibility of relevant collectives and individuals (if any); at the same time, suspend the demolition and construction of the 11-storey multi-functional project to review and inspect the process and procedures for project implementation.
Regarding the relief "Capital's soldiers and civilians shot down an American plane" located on the wall facing the intersection of Nguyen Thai Hoc and Le Truc, the city will have a plan to review and evaluate its value for preservation if necessary. Accordingly, it is possible to coordinate with the investor to place the relief at a suitable location within the project area.
