The Healing the Wounded Heart (HWH) store is one of the activities of the Thua Thien Hue Province Genetic Counseling and Support Fund for Children with Disabilities (FGCDC), established in 2003 with the idea of Ms. Marichia Simcik Arese - the founder of the Spiral Organization and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Nhan - Chairman of the Management Board of the Genetic Counseling and Support Fund for Children with Disabilities.
With the meaning "Healing Wounded Hearts," all of the shop's activities aim to create jobs for people with disabilities, especially those with hearing impairments, helping them find work, earn an income, and stabilize their lives. At the same time, most of HWH's handcrafted products are made from recycled materials, contributing to environmental protection and changing community perceptions of people with disabilities.

People with disabilities are making handicrafts at the shop.
The bowls are made from the wrappers of instant noodles wrapped around thin strips of bamboo.
The container was wrapped in nylon and the packaging of instant noodles and candy.
The necklace is made from magazines and newspapers.
Cups and mugs are made from telephone wire.
Specifically, when you purchase a handcrafted product at the HWH store, you are also contributing to the surgical costs for many patients with congenital heart defects. HWH uses 10% of its total sales revenue to support heart surgery costs for underprivileged patients participating in the FGCDC's Heart Surgery Cost Support Program.

Following the Prime Minister's nationwide social distancing order from April 1st, 2020, the young people working at HWH stores are currently resting at home. However, even at this time, we can all contribute to helping them find work again after the Covid-19 pandemic ends by collecting used "materials" we have. Instant noodle wrappers, rice packaging, beer cans, soft drink cans, bottled water cans, magazines, newspapers... - all can be transformed into lovely handcrafted products with your meticulous hands.

In addition to creating handcrafted products at the HWH store, the Genetic Counseling and Support Fund for Children with Disabilities also has many other activities such as: Scholarship programs for poor students or those who have undergone heart surgery, Special education programs for children with intellectual disabilities (the Future Special School under FGCDC currently has about 50 students enrolled), Early Intervention - Speech Therapy Program, Physical Therapy Program, etc.
