Healing the Wounded Heart (HWH) Store is one of the activities of the Genetic Counseling and Support Fund for Children with Disabilities in Thua Thien Hue Province (FGCDC), established in 2003 with the idea of Ms. Marichia Simcik Arese - founder of Spiral Organization and Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Viet Nhan - Chairman of the Management Board of the Genetic Counseling and Support Fund for Children with Disabilities.
With the meaning of "Healing the wounded heart", all activities of the store are aimed at creating jobs for people with disabilities, especially the hearing impaired, helping them to work, earn income and stabilize their lives. At the same time, most of HWH's handmade products are made from recycled materials, contributing to environmental protection and changing the community's awareness of people with disabilities.

Bowl made from instant noodle packaging wrapped in thinly shaved bamboo
The box is wrapped from nylon and instant noodle and candy packages.
Necklaces made from magazines and newspapers
Cups and glasses made from telephone wire
In particular, when you buy a handmade product at the HWH store, you also contribute to the surgery costs for many patients with congenital heart disease. HWH uses 10% of the total sales to support the heart surgery costs for poor patients under the FGCDC Heart Surgery Cost Support Program.

In compliance with the Prime Minister's request for social isolation from April 1, 2020, young people working at HWH stores are currently resting at home. However, at this time, we can all contribute to supporting them to have jobs again after the Covid-19 epidemic ends, by collecting used "raw materials" that we have. Instant noodle packaging, rice packaging, beer cans, soft drinks, bottled water of all kinds, magazines, newspapers... - all can become cute handmade products through your meticulous hands.

In addition to creating handmade products at the HWH store, the Genetic Counseling and Support Fund for Children with Disabilities also has many other activities such as: Scholarship program for poor students or students after heart surgery, Special education program for children with intellectual disabilities (Future Specialized School under FGCDC currently has about 50 students studying), Early Intervention Program - Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy Program...
