To facilitate spring travel for tourists, many tourist destinations are offering free bus services, "zero-cost" metro rides, and free parking, creating conditions for a civilized and economical holiday.
Hanoi
In the capital city, the People's Committee has decisively directed departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of inner-city districts to establish free parking areas to eliminate the "price gouging" that has been a recurring problem during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). In the area around Quan Thanh Temple, the People's Committee of Ba Dinh ward proactively utilized the sidewalk of Thanh Nien Street and the grounds of Nguyen Tri Phuong Primary School to create a free parking lot from the 27th day of the 12th lunar month until the 6th day of Tet.
The establishment of free parking areas right next to the historical site not only helps people save money but also eliminates chaos and price gouging.
Similarly, the area around the Temple of Literature – National University, the most popular destination for visitors during the Spring Calligraphy Festival, has also seen a significant reduction in infrastructure pressure. A large-scale free car parking lot has been established at 9 Trinh Hoai Duc Street (near Hang Day Stadium), operating continuously from the 1st to the 6th day of Tet. For motorbikes, visitors can park in the Garden of the Imperial Academy area until March 1st, 2026.
People come to the Temple of Literature to ask for auspicious calligraphy at the beginning of the year.
In addition, prestigious schools such as Viet Duc High School, Tran Phu High School, Ngo Si Lien Junior High School, and Trung Vuong Junior High School also open their schoolyards and basements to serve the parking needs of people visiting Hoan Kiem Lake and the surrounding areas.
Notably, this year, 100% of the fares will be waived for 128 subsidized bus routes and two urban railway lines (Cat Linh - Ha Dong, Nho Son - Cau Giay). From February 14th to 22nd, 2026, passengers can receive free tickets directly at the counter or through the Hanoi Metro app. The metro schedule has also been flexibly adjusted, extending service until 2 AM on New Year's Eve to allow people to conveniently watch fireworks and celebrate the New Year.
Passengers experience a spring travel journey on the "zero-cost" urban railway line.
Quang Ninh
In Quang Ninh province, after the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiet Bac complex of historical sites was officially recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site in July 2025, the province decided to waive entrance fees to the Yen Tu scenic area.
Thanh Hoa
Thanh Hoa province has also announced free tours of the Ho Dynasty Citadel World Heritage Site (from the 25th of the Lunar New Year to the 1st day of the Lunar New Year) and the Lam Kinh National Special Historical Site (from the 29th of the Lunar New Year to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year). Here, visitors can not only enjoy free tours but also experience professional guided tours, cultural spaces recreating "traditional Tet in the ancient citadel," and characteristic festivals such as the Thượng Nêu ceremony and the release of Ông Công fish.

Hue
On the first day of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse), all Vietnamese citizens will be granted free entry to historical sites within the Imperial Citadel complex, such as the Imperial Palace and the tombs of Emperors Minh Mang, Tu Duc, and Khai Dinh.
The policy of free entry to special national historical sites has created maximum opportunities for everyone to experience the special atmosphere of the Lunar New Year season.

Quang Tri
Meanwhile, in Quang Tri, the Hien Luong - Ben Hai riverside historical site, after completing its restoration, will also be open to the public free of charge and will offer lucky red envelopes to visitors until March 1st.

Ho Chi Minh City
Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) - the pride of the city's urban transport - offered free rides on the two peak days of Tet, January 29th and February 1st. To cater to the entertainment needs on New Year's Eve, Metro Line 1 increased train frequency with intervals of only 4-6 minutes per trip during the early morning hours of February 1st.

In addition, the City's Public Transport Management Center, in coordination with Phuong Trang Company, has implemented free fares on 105 subsidized bus routes and many key non-subsidized routes connecting to the airport and bus stations. Although the number of trips has been adjusted according to the Tet holiday schedule, the main bus routes still ensure service for people from dawn, creating a comprehensive, modern, and completely free transportation network.
